Anyone know when I should change my transmission filter and fluids. I have 75000 miles. Trans has cooler not sure how that is also drained. Also recommendations on filter, Factory or aftermarket?

I'm curious as well. The original owner had the trans fluid service done at the Toyota dealer 6 years ago at 130k miles. I'm the second owner that purchased it from the same dealer and it has 217k miles on it now. Do I need to do anything?

I like Wix for filters and the transmission pan gasket. I used Valvoline maxx life plus a 10oz container of LubeGuard red about 2000 miles ago. Shifting very nice. 159k when I did it.

You shouldn’t change the filter. It’s more of a screen. There are a lot of threads on here about it. You could cause more problems by trying to change it. Search for the many threads about it. It has been debated a lot. Toyota does not recommend changing it and some dealers won’t do it.

There’s also a lot of threads on how to change the fluid.

    • Replace transmission oil every 60,000 miles if towing, 90,000 miles if not
