What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Found some Aftermarket Black Stainless Spring Clamps that look like they’ll do the trick. They are sold in MM sizes. I’ll call my Stealer today and speak with my former mechanic parts guy who knows his stuff. Leaning towards the OEM Hoses for quality and simplicity of install. May go elsewhere for the Spring Clamps.

I believed it does according to 3M's site. PM me I can send ya some chunks for lights. I don't think you can just order there stuff gotta be ran thru them yada yada.

 

Only OEM hoses I'd bother with would be any with 90 degree bends. Parts store rubber is cheap enough, same thing with the clamps most stores should have those available.

 

You think a hose shop would be able to match what I need if I took them off and brought the hoses to them? My hoses are starting to show their age too.

Can't hurt to ask. Worst case a handful of hard plastic elbows will get the job done.

 

I just ordered new Gates brand. We'll see how they look when I get them.

I just bought the two main hoses from rockAuto.

 

Correct, HD springs on a 2001 AC 4X4, was 23 hub to fender. I'm sure my leafs were really worn-out because even with the 3 leaf AAL and the overload I was at 22.5.

 

Just installed another t100 brake booster since my last one had a bit of a vacuum leak.

I checked my oil level while I was under the hood and noticed I'm losing quite a bit out of nowhere. I've never burnt a drop up until this oil cycle. I don't see any leaks which leads me to think the worst. I've done more towing and highway driving than I ever have before on this last oil change. Is that something that usually makes a 2uz suck extra sauce?

 

Did an oil change, air filter and new gas cap this past weekend. Today I put on a fancy new oil cap, it adds +10 to oil life. However the dirty bay is -10 on sex appeal.

Replaced the three burnt out bulbs for the HVAC with LEDs. Stock bulbs had a green plastic film over them.

 

Looks great what bulbs did you use?

Well....I got a call from FN Wheels today and finally was able to place an order for the TRD knockoffs. They will ship out tomorrow so I'm excited and nervous for when the wife notices the change. I do have the tires still sitting in the garage so she's gotta know it's only a matter of time. Plus I'm putting new wheels on her car tomorrow so maybe that will pacify her lol.

It's done. I bounced off the bumper a few times and took a measurement.
23 3/4 That was with the shell on and the old springs in the back. I am in a chubby double cab too.
I think I was around 21 with the shell on and nothing in the back before.
I suspect things will settle so I am going to call this unofficial at this point.

Getting in the garage with the kayak rack on is going to be close.

I drove it around the block and Things are stiff. I will report back when I have more than 400 yards on the springs.

 

Looks great. A little stiff isn't bad so long as it doesn't feel harsh. Get a few hundred miles on her and see how it feels compared to the old. Hopefully you will be as happy with it as I am with mine.

 

Stiff will be a huge improvement over bouncing off the bump stops. I know once I get dialed in I will be heavy.

 

I don't remember the exact wording but my manual says some oil use is normal. Was there any chance it was low after the last oil change?

 

Pinch weld mod today. Felt weird hacking into a perfectly good vehicle. Looks terrible but no rubbing as of yet. Gonna go hunt and wheel it this weekend and will report back. I would like to replace the plastics and clips in the wheel well. Will also need to clean and put some sort of coating on the newly exposed metal.... maybe ill pay a body shop to do it right and rhino line it..... just hope I dont rub and hope i didnt ruin anything.

 

Not exactly today but been a busy couple of weeks. Flushed the engine oil, Flushed the antifreeze, changed out the headlight assemblies and upgraded all the lights to LED's. Installed an on board air compressor. Fabricated and installed mounts for my traction boards. Changed the spark plugs. This weekends to do list is new leaf springs, shocks struts, leveling kit, upper and lower ball joints, and if possible rock lights. Loving my budget build overland

 

Almost forgot, got my skid plates painted, muffler painted, and decent portion of my frame/undercarriage painted too ‍♂️

 

The 4.7 is not known to drink much oil. Was it filled to full before? We’re you on level ground? Was the engine hot or cold. All these factor in... on level ground with a warm engine, you should be on the top mark.

 

Can't seem to upload photos which is a bummer. Would like to show some proof and maybe help others with ideas since I have gotten so many from here myself.

 

I didn't think they would drink much oil. My engine wouldn't even put a dent in the oil level before, but it seems like it uses a good bit. It was a bit under the low mark on the dip stick when I checked.
I added some so it was half way between the low and full and it's back down a bit below the low mark after about 1000 miles of highway driving. My oil catch can hasn't caught more than normal either.

I just changed my oil all together and it's just barely below the full mark. I always fill to that level on level ground with a hot engine. I'll keep a close eye on it for a while and see what it's doing.

It'd be a shame if I had to jump on that custom built 2uz from XAT racing earlier than planned.
