I’m interested in replacing the old and kinda worn out Toyos on the Tundra I just bought. According to the go-to post on tire sizing, the largest I can go without rubbing is 275/70/16. The truck is my new daily driver so I’m mostly on the road, but I do enjoy the outdoors so I will be driving offroad a bit. The most obvious tires would be the Goodrich K02 A/T. However, a lot of people have complained about wet weather traction on the road, especially after 10k miles. Seeing as I live in Seattle, driving in the rain is an extremely common thing. So that said, Yokohama Geolandar A/T G0-15s seems like a decent compromise (they are also cheaper)

Has anyone had a poor experience with KO2s in the rain?

How about a good experience with Yokohama Geolandar A/Ts?

Is there an option I am overlooking in 275/70/16?

I’m running BFG KO2s now. They are wonderful for the light off-roading I do and on the rare occasions we get snow they are champs in that too. I will confirm that wet pavement handling and stopping are not their strong suit.

For my money and driving habits, the absolute best tire I have had are the standard Michelin LTX AT2. Those had great street handling, great ride, great on wet surfaces, and were more than adequate in snow and off-road. Before I got the KO2s I was seriously considering the LTX AT2 10 ply option (don’t know if it’s still available). I had never had the BFG and given its rave reviews thought I should go for it. I’m glad I did but when it’s time to replace, given that most of my driving is in civilization and on wet roads, I will go back to the Michelin LTX AT2 or whatever the updated version of that is.

Good luck with your choice and have fun. New tires are awesome.

I haven't have a poor experience with my KO2s in the rain or anywhere else. My experience with this truck is that weight in the bed helps tremendously with traction on wet surfaces.

Tons of info in the wheel and tire section here. Just search those tires (upper right) and you will get more info than you care to read! Good stuff however.

Some have complained about wet traction with KO2s, balance issues, etc. There are a ton of good AT tires out there. Any of the major brands have good offerings- Nitto, falken, BFG, Cooper and more. There are reviews of tires in the wheel and tire section and you can always check tirerack and discount tire websites for reviews of the tires you are considering.
