Somehow stumbled on a 2001 Tundra, and am slowly starting to realize just how great these trucks really are. All Ive done so far is paint the wheels black and wrap the window trim, mirrors, and grill in black film. Gonna paint the badges black next.

    Got a random question. In reading about these 4.7 engines I keep reading the term “resistance engines” and am wondering how that works or why its called that.

    I'm not sure about 'resistance' engines, but I believe they are 'interference' engines. That means that the valves and pistons will collide if your timing belt fails. That's why you want to be sure to replace your timing belt on the recommended schedule.

    Yes, if the timing belt breaks it will thoroughly destroy the engine. Your truck looks very clean, I miss my old 2000 Tundra, but I still get to see and drive her occasionally as I sold her to my dad. Timing belts and water pumps should be replaced every 90k miles.

    Oh yea interference not resistance! Thanks @CreekDweller and @FirstGenTundra for the info. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any service records on it but I popped the driver side cover and the belt doesnt look cracked or anything. She’s at 175k though so im sure its about due.
