    Hi, I got a 2008 limited 2wd tundra/sequoia w/ 234,000 miles tow package

noticed some wetness on power steering cooler hose just under the reservoir, I looked up the part at Toyota and it is $400 for the whole assembly. seems to be leaking at the union connection where the bracket holds it down, not serious leak but enough for me to do something. My local shop wants $1255 to replace, is this something an average joe can complete? I have changed my own water pump, radiator, belt, whatever i can find on youtube i can use to replace something. well my problem is I cannot find any videos or information on how to change the power steering cooler, anyone have experience? Thanks.

I personally haven't done one on a Tundra, but I've done them on other trucks before. The price you got quoted in my opinion, is completely ridiculous. If you have enough of a mechanical aptitude to change the water pump, I would think you could tackle this yourself. My 2 cents of course, and good luck.

awesome! I could have used this a couple weeks ago when installing my high clearance front bumper and ran into issues of it hitting my PS cooler, I had to bend and push and only reinstall one bolt.

eventual project for sure. Thanks for the input and links

update on power steering. sorry I didn't take pics along the way, hands were messy with tranny fluid. I did order and replaced the power steering reservoir line hose, that was a pain in the ass with the hose clip is a hard to get to angle. I had to use my pvc cutting clamp to cut hose then spin the hose around to get good angle on the hose clamp. as the the cooler line hose, I ordered some 3/8 atf line and was able to cut the old rotted hose off and reuse the metal portion of the power steering cooler line.

I did take my bumper off, that was a pain also but luckily I didn't have to use the cooler I bought.

Wonder how is it doing now, I have the exact problem with my 2012, the cooler to reservoir line is leaking where the rubber meets the metal line near the bracket. How is that 3/8 gates line holding?

I suggest if doing this that one use better clamps than the worm drive as they create a flat spot on small diameter hoses and can continue to weep.

    Take a look at grainger.com

After much googling I came across this thread. I was seconds away from paying dealer $550 for the cooler but you guys motivated me to keep looking. Long story shirt I just picked up and installed this from AutoZone for $24. . So far so good.
