Over the past 2 years I've had this issue happen 5 times & can't seem to figure it out. My 08 Tundra 5.7 2×4 runs great, it has 165,000 miles on it. Once in a great while it won't start after it sits for 15 or 30 minutes. When stop & get back in to start it the motor starts & then stalls, when I try to start it again it may or may not fire, if it fires it stalls out after 1-2 seconds, I hold the gas peddle down and try to start & it revs up and stalls out.. Crazy as hell, after about 30 or 45 minutes it fires right up and runs flawlessly. It almost feels like a fuel vapor lock of some sort but my mechanic says it isn't, he tells me he would have to see it happen so he can figure it out. Again, it runs perfect all the time, the last 2 times it did it I was on a slight (very slight) upward incline.... There are no codes, no check engine light that show up when checked. The battery is 4 months old, the problem has happened with both batteries, the new one & the old, I also replaced all of the battery connectors when the battery was replaced.
I never know when it will happen, last week it did it when I went to pick up pizza and waited 15 minutes for it to be ready, got in the truck and BAM... Then it took another 30 to start.

Sounds like it could be a fuel pressure problem. When it does it again, try turning the key to on only then after 2-3 seconds turn it off, don't go to start yet and try this a few more times, then go to start. This should build pressure in the system and if it is a pressure problem, maybe this will allow it to start. Just a suggestion.

Also one question, How low is your fuel level when this happens? What I am thinking is it may be picking up water at the bottom of your tank, but that could happen anytime if there is a lot of water in the tank. Just another idea. Without seeing it happen I am only throwing ideas out there for you.

FWD Tundra.... Thank you for your suggestion, I'll try the key on/off exercise next time it happens.... Sounds like a worthy try. As for the fuel level, I've never paid attention to that in the past, I'll check it out next time around. Thanks for the reply.
