The used pickup truck market is ON FIRE right now . . .

It’s tempting. If you don’t need to replace it right away, I’d consider it. The whole market is upside down. It’s bizzaroworld out there

 

I went to one of the local dealerships for my oil change and then another for a recall on my 2019 tundra.....they will not leave me alone about selling it to them. For A LOT more than I paid for it......so much so they almost got me thinking about doing it. Just can’t bring myself to part with it though

 

just for kicks, I went to Carvana's site and entered in my info. Not looking to get rid of it, it's paid for and I don't drive it much so it's a garage queen for now, but in for the entertainment. '18 Tundra TRD Off Road Limited quicksand, pretty stock other than a better HU (still have original). I paid $45.5K OTD in April of 2018. Their cash offer is $45,702. Wow, I wouldn't get rid of my Tundra, but if there was something else I was interested in, it would be a hard decision. If Jeeps weren't built by FCA, I'd have a new Rubicon, but they are, so that ain't gonna happen.

 

The only reason I sold my 2019 is I was able to find one that I wanted, got the SR5 upgrade package with the 38 gal fuel tank....plus they gave me $5300 above what I paid.

 

Too bad I can't get bugged like that to sell my 2010 for more than I paid for it. Then again I really like mine and have done some upgrades to it like replaced the wheels with Lexus LX wheels, new Bilstein 4600 shocks all around, new radio with backup camera.

 

Not just used pickup market. This thread got me interested, so I punched in my 2017 Mustang GT Premium, with Performance Package. I have very low miles on it, just under 12K and I'm sure this offer has a lot to do with it. Their offer is $17 shy of $33,000. I paid $34,550 OTD, with 6700 miles on it. So it's clearly not as good as Tundras, but got me thinking.

I wonder if the same holds true for Rams. My Dad has been thinking about selling his since he's retired now and it mostly sits.

 

Carvana offered me 35k for the War Machine. I think I paid 38k for it (before mods). Offered me 12k for the red 2011 with 135k on the odometer.

Surprisingly, it offered me almost as much as I paid on the 2019 Sequoia. I wasn’t expecting that, since I don’t think there’s much market for them.

 

Carvana is picking my 2019 up later this week. I’ll be curious to see if they resell it and what they will try to sell it for.

 

Plugged in my truck info on Carvana just for fun, they only offered $12,500 for it lol. I paid 16k four years and 40k miles ago. Think I’ll hang onto it

By comparison, my wife’s 2013 Ford Flex received a paltry 8k offer from carvana. We paid 21k for it six years and 80k miles ago. Think we’ll hang onto that one, too

 

I think there is a sweet spot with their pricing algorithm - I think they put a higher value on newer, low mileage vehicles from what I can tell probably because that’s what they can sell for the highest premium.

Yes . It’s offered me 6k more than I paid for mine 2 years ago . A guy I know with a F150 ( 2018 ) was offered 3k more than he paid as a trade in .
