    Hi everyone,

I found a wrecked 2012 Limited Tundra locally and am wondering what I can swap over to my SR5 TRD 2011 Tundra. I was mainly questioning the seats, HVAC control panel, and the JBL amp and subwoofer. Anyone have any experience with doing this? Thanks!

I had a SR5 before and a limited/Platinum model now. I don't think it's as simple as plug and play. You can probably get the seats to work as long the plugs and harness are there for the heat and power. (My sr5 had power seats, no heat) The HVAC control may need to be rewired because the limited model is digital and automatic. (Vs the manual HVAC on sr5) The JBL sound system will need to be wired also. It may not be worth the time and effort to do the JBL sound. It's not that great, you're better off using aftermarket equipment if you want better sound.

The seats would be the easiest. They will bolt right in and I think the harnesses are the same. To get power adjust, I believe it's simply adding a wire to a 12V source. I'm not sure on heat, I've never looked into that.

The stereo would be a waste of time.

To upgrade to the Auto Climate Controls is a royal pain in the ass. The cab configurations have to be the same, or the cab you're parting from has to be larger. If they're both DCs = ok. CM controls to DC = ok. CM to CM = ok. DC to CM = Nope. There's an ECU you'd have to grab from the donor, and some sensors, and some plastic tubing, and some incredibly inaccessible portions of the wiring harness.

If the steering wheel on the donor is leather, that's easy. You can reuse your steering wheel controls and airbag.

The Optitron gauge cluster is a desirable item, you'll have to time someone to correct the odometer if that matters to you. About $100.

The rear view and side view mirrors might be of interest. The rear view is probably auto darkening, the side view mirrors may be as well. The only way to really tell if that aspect is plug and play is to plug them in. The side views may have turn signals in the glass, possibly puddle lamps and power fold. Heat too. The heat and signal would most likely be PnP, the rest not so much but there are write-ups on those things. Oh, the back-up camera too, that may be PnP with the rear view mirror.

That's all that comes to mind at the moment...

The gauge cluster is a direct swap, as well as the HVAC controls I believe. @e30cabrio has done both if I’m not mistaken. Power fold mirrors should swap over. Auto headlight switch maybe?

Toyota is notorious for wiring all the trim levels the same regardless of which options are actually on the truck.

Same with the auto headlight sensor and stalk if your SR5 doesn't have that.

Thanks for the responses everyone. It seems the consensus is that the stereo isn't worth the effort.

I already have the power driver seat, so I would only be adding the heat to that side. Passenger side would be adding power and heat.
The wrecked truck is a DC, like mine but I'm not interested in sourcing the ECU and other parts for the auto climate...that dream will die here.
Not really interested in the steering wheel or gauge cluster
I already have heated side mirrors, auto dimming rear mirror with backup cam in the mirror. Power fold mirrors would be nice but I've read that adding those can be a pain in the rear.

All in all it sounds like the only things worth swapping over would be the seats. Good to know. Hopefully this thread answers some questions for others in the future because it sounds like my work here is done.

Will a Sequoia Limited gauge cluster from 2008 be a direct swap? The one I'm looking at is quite a bit cheaper than the ones I see for the Tundra Limited.

The thing with the Sequoia clusters is that they have a power steering assist thingy that will come on. It's a red LED in the cluster that will stay on because it's not detecting something that the Sequoias have but the Tundras do not. There are two ways of dealing with this. One is to find the write up that details what parts you'll need to purchase to the tune of a couple hundred dollars and install them to satisfy whatever separation anxiety issues the cluster is having. The other option is to find someone with the skill to disassemble the cluster and unsolder the LED from the circuit board. It's a surface mount LED and very very small.

The other thing to consider is that some Sequoias have an auto leveling system for the rear suspension and there are some indicators for that in the cluster that are of no use. May bother you, may not.

FWIW, I put the Optitron cluster from a 2008 in my 2011 avoiding the clusters with the auto leveling indicators and unsoldered the LED.
