So it sounds like you've got a leak; I spent almost $1,600 replacing the evaporator core in my Tacoma because I didn't feel like having it recharged every year!

I recharge my 2010 mustang gt in late spring every year. There is a small leak...tiny...takes almost 12 months for it to reduce the charge enough to notice. Been doing this for about 6 years.

I also did this on an older pre-Tacoma Toyota truck and it worked well. One little squirt of Freon lasted for 1-2 years. no biggie.

This should be their (Toyota) advertising.

This story is a testament to what people want (durability and value), but no longer expect. And the reason people no longer expect it is almost everything in life is either used for a couple of years and upgraded (computers, phones, etc.) before they break, or used for 5-15 years (TV's, A/C's, appliances) and they break and aren't worth fixing.

I'd love to ask the OP if he thought he was going to get value for his $$ when he purchased this truck at the dealer? Then I'd like to ask him, now, did he get more or less value than he anticipated....

Our family has owned Toyota’s since the 80’s so I expected to have a low maintenance truck that I could expect 200K to 300K miles. Again this is a work truck that carries heavy loads on job sites making dozens of stops everyday. Never would I have expected it to last this long under those conditions. Crossed 421K on last Friday and still rolling.

Still running well at 432K. Not using it as a daily driver now just as a back up for my business. Great truck.

The number of Toyota’s with insane miles on them is , at this point, miraculous.

    just astonishing.

Tileguy's Tundra is interesting from the perspective of a huge number of miles, with minimal maintenance, and heavy usage.

I aspire to reach 400k and beyond in my 2016 5.7. It just rolled past 101k yesterday. Funny thing is I live a mile from work. I just really enjoy driving it!

What makes it wilder is reading the other manufacturer forums. I dig the GMC AT4’s w/ the 3L Duramax...but man, 5 min on those forums for a truck thats been out for 12 months is brutal.

Leak oil, burn oil, dont start, over heat, cooling fans always on full blast even if engine is cold, constant CEL’s that seem to be un-solvable, bad sensors, limp mode out of the blue...etc etc

Great tech and good MPG though:rolleyes:

Tough to pony up $65k when I trust my 14 yr old toyota w/ a 181k miles more than a brand new set of wheels from a “domestic” (they are built in Mexico).

That's just one forum. The feeling of tragedy you get looking through many of the different forums is hard to deny.
