What's the theory?

I brought home my first TRD Pro (Lunar Rock) a few weeks ago and I saw while driving home from the dealer that the MPG Meter shows 600+ miles left (roughly as I don't remember but I know I saw a 6 as the first number). I just finally did my first trip to the gas station yesterday and filled the truck up. But now, when I reset the meter, it just says 575 miles left.

I did trade in my 2018 Tundra Crewmax SR5 TSS and to the best of my knowledge, I don't remember seeing the MPG meter showing 600+ while I drove that truck home from the dealer.

Does anyone have a theory about this?

The computer is figuring a more accurate number, it should drop down to around 400-420 in the next few days. This will happen any time you disconnect the battery as well just fyi

They want us to think it gets 600+ miles/20 mpg on the test drive to buy the truck.. Then when the computer learns our driving habits the number slowly goes down until it settles around 350/10 mpg lol

The new ones have the 38 gallon tank (reads ~31 gallons) so 600 miles is a tad high, but not out of the normal. I'm usually around 550 miles (~900 km) when I fill up the tank.

I once had 990 km of range after disconnecting the battery. I love how optimistic Tundras are.

I did disconnect the battery when I installed the OEM Toyota Tailgate Lock a week after I got the truck.
