Hi all, what is better for offroading? Negative offset or positive?

I think there’s a lot of answers to that question. Not just stuff like lift and tire size, but what type of off roading and terrain. +25mm seems to be the sweet spot for the tundra.

    So positive is better?

I’ve always read that around +25mm is the sweet spot for tundras. Personally I wouldn’t have negative offset. I don’t like the look and it will make the truck wider off road and more chances to hit something. But that depends on what type of terrain you’ll be on.

So, I'm running LT275/55R20 1158 on 20 inch wheels with an offset of -18 (they stick out.) Is this suitable for offroading? Or should I change it up.

If that’s what you have, I wouldn’t go out and spend money to change it. Some will say 20” wheels will ride rougher and you can’t air down as much. I had 20” wheels on my 2010 tundra and thought it was fine. -18 doesn’t seem like it would stick out too far. Just watch your clearances around trees and rocks or cliffs if you’re in the mountains.

Buy a Jeep for 4wheeling. These Tundras are to big for the fun trails.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Tundra... BUT any real 4 wheeling gets done in my Old TJ.... I don't have to cry when tree branches are scraping down the side of it squeezing through tight places.

Somewhere between 60 and 13. I’ve read that 0 sticks out too far.

I just bought some SCS sr8 and they’re +25. They stick out about 1.9” from fender but SCS made these specific for tundras and off-roading

    This is +10.

I would have preferred +25, but liked the rims too.

Too much poke IMO. I like a nice flush look, but that’s just me.

They are definitely on the aggressive side of Poke. As I said, I wish they were +25 or even +35, but the rims checked all other boxes.
