Any stories of people going in for vehicle checkups and the dealer offering a ton of money because they are low on Tundra used inventory?

Bought a new 2020 Limited in Sept 2020. Got into a minor accident Thanksgiving week 2020. Called my salesman to see what shop they use for bodywork because they do not have one. During the conversation, he mentioned that he could give me about what I paid on trade in for a 21 if I wanted to. I was really bummed about the accident, was not bad at all, but was not excited about a brand new truck with 1000 miles already being taken apart for repairs.... had to remove, bed, bumper, and repair and repaint the entire passenger bedside. December 2020 they offered me $43,500 for it. I paid $44,500 for it and spent roughly another $1,000 on a linex liner and a few other things. He located me a Platinum in Wind Chill Pearl that I could not pass up. While waiting for the Platinum to arrive, I advertised the Limited for sale and sold it for $46,500. Used market is nuts right now. It was actually a dealer from Utah that flew in to buy it. It is still on their lot right now. They have it listed for right at $56,000.

I literally experienced this with a 2018 ram 2500 back in NOV. Dealer gave me blue book sale value in cash for my ram even with a minor accident to the passenger rear bed corner. I flat out asked them how they could offer me so much and if there was a catch. Salesman told me that with Ram, the cheapest new 1500 they had on the lot was over $50k and they weren’t selling. He said he’d give me top dollar for my truck and turn around and sell it over blue book. They listed it for nearly $5k over blue book and sold it in 4 days. I had originally traded my 98k mile 08 sr5 dc for it, so I took the cash and hunted down a used 2016 sr5 dc to get back to the Tundra life. I still miss my old second gen though.

Been getting these flyers, and e-mails for Toyotas "key for key program". They are definitely hurting for inventory. I made the mistake of clicking on one of their e-mails to see what they were offering to pay for my truck, ten minutes later I had a call from the dealership wanting me to set up an appointment to come down. Now they call just about every other day...I might have to block them. :)

And the granite countertop came from the high-central region of a remote province in China. There's also a light residue from last night's glass of Chardonnay and a bit of bacon grease from this morning's apple smoked bacon and...and...I guess we won't talk about the rest since this is a family oriented forum.

I just traded my 2019 for a 2017, they gave me $3k more than what I paid after 18 months of ownership. I got killer incentives when I bought the 19.

Why a 2017, because it’s the best year. Transmission cooler, Yes, Big gas tank, Yes, Toyota Safety Sense, No, thank god.

Well - my 2012 Silverado WT cost 16,100 new...got 20k on it now and its time to sell.

Won't see the original price paid back - but at 10k on Carvana - so think it held its value fairly well...about 600 a year in "depreciation".

Dealers are simply nuts right now - think I mentioned the 1794 w/Offroad pack that the dealer wanted a 2k "upcharge" on as it was "a very scarce color for a 1794 with this package that he has only seen 1 off" (its the ONLY color you can get a 1794 with the package in this year).

Well - I beat that one yesterday - an SR5 DEMO they are asking 65k on !!! Asked what made it so "special" - initially get it has "all the bells and whistles"....yea, but its a SR5...I can buy the 1794 and 7k more in add ons and still be cheaper (and have leather, sunroof, ect..) - then proceeds to tell me "well..it was my sales managers truck..." OK- is your sales manager famous or something?!? I mean why would I pay more because your sales manager drove it?

Oddly found the exact same truck new at another dealer - 47,100 and a slight discount available.

I'm torn - AG is not my fave color - but not least either. I prefer a DC and the savings from the Pro are tempting - gotta resist changing once again and just go with what I started searching for all along.

I was paid out on my totaled 2019 Pro at 8k or 9k more than I paid new. Only silver lining in the whole ordeal, if you could even call it that.
