So I'm just here thinking, I have a 4.0 V6 about to hit 150K on it. Love the truck with a passion never want to get rid of regardless of its dings and dents or scratches. I grew up with it as a brand new truck of the line in 2011 and now it's taking me to college reliably while putting up with my side hobbies and modifications. I love the truck but I'm aware of the lack of power. Driving my girlfriends 04 4.7 that only makes 240 HP compared to my 270 feels extremely similar. I was gonna save up to supercharge and started wondering about a swap to a 4.6 when this engine becomes too tired. I originally was thinking diesel but it ends up running a large tab. 5.7 uses a different axle I have the axle for the 4.6. Truck is healthy and well taken care of but I do want to be ready in terms of knowledge. I have the 5SPD with the upgrade valve body as well only thing I need at one point is a torque converter. I'm really not too into the idea of spending 6K on a supercharger knowing the lifespan of my engine block is 250K. I live in south FL and there are plenty of junkyards that do partouts at worst around 4K sometimes less or more can get you a 4.6. Also noticed we had a 4.7 in 2nd gens at one point? Not a fan of those because of the oil leaks. I generally love toyota because of reliability, simplicity, and workability. If anyone has any ideas feel free to comment, creativity is welcome just thinking out loud here
