I have noticed that the trans in my Tundra with 300 miles searches and feels like its delayed or slipping when going down hill and given gas into a turn. I had similar issues with my 17 Tacoma. Is this common?

Transmissions don’t slip going down hills. Give it a little time and it will get use to your driving habits.

A slipping trans feels like a slipping clutch. When you give it throttle the engine rpm will increase with an unequal increase in vehicle speed. Worse under heavy load.

Do you mean a delay in throttle response or shifting? Every new car I have driven is like that.

I notice when mine is cold its a little slow to shift. There's a particular corner that I hit every morning going to work.
Two turns out of the neighborhood and then down a steep hill to a light at the end. When I make a left turn at that light coming off the incline it takes the trans an extra beat to shift to second and its sort of sloppy/clunky. That's the only time I notice it doing anything weird. Once its fully warmed up and any other situations its fine.

Mine feels like a slip every day leaving work making a right turn and going down a hill. Only time it does it. A guy I work with has a Sequoia that does the exact same thing... must be normal. Don’t think trans temp has anything to do with it; when I leave my house in the morning, no “slipping” whatsoever.

It's the computer learning, IMHO. Literally the ONLY time it might do it is if I've crept along slowly for a while, and then suddenly seek to give it a bit of gas (e.g., when I'm dropping off/picking up the rugrat @ school). It went away completely during recent service @ the dealership that required disconnecting the battery for a few hours.

I also have this randomly when accelerating at slow speed on level ground after going down my sloped driveway. I just let off the gas and wait a few seconds and accelerate again and it's fine.
