So I’m told in order to register my truck in Arizona I’m going to have to get my speedometer faceplate/cluster changed from KM/HR on the top to MPH on the top, and reprogrammed, we’re in Canada moving to Arizona. Has anyone had to get this done?

Keep us updated/informed on the process of actually doing that. Wonder why it’s not something that can be done via vehicle settings??

Sheesh...that sounds like nonsense to me as long as your speedo shows mph.

    What a pain.

The digital can be, but there is an actual needle Speedometer as well.

    Edit: correcting autocorrect

It’s silly but apparently a requirement.

It’s the same if you bring a car from Europe. I’ve also heard of emissions stuff that has to be changed too.

I'm not sure you'll get a response. The last reply in this thread was over 2 years ago and the OP hasn't been around for a while.

If you click on a members name to the left of their post you will get this little window, and if they have it set to share you can see the last time they were on the forum.

Thank you! I won’t hold my breath. I wonder if I could just change faceplate.

As far as I know, the dash is a full assembly. If you had a donor dash and could open them both up it might be possible? You can't just swap the dash, though. The odometer would have to be programmed to match the outgoing one.

Would you happen to know a company who could help with it? I saw some online but can’t tell the difference between a reputable one from another.
I saw a cluster (American not Canadian) on eBay and I guess I would have to send that one in for reprogramming. I am afraid to ask the dealer because they will charge an arm and a leg.

I honestly have no idea who could legitimately reprogram a cluster and not have it be flagged as odometer fraud. As for the cluster itself, I would only buy OEM but I'd check with some of the online dealer stores.

I changed my cluster in my older suburban. I had to send my current one in so they can match the mileage. Unfortunately they only do GM :(
Thank for your help. I’ll look around. maybe I have to visit the dealer after all.

Best of luck to you! If you pull it off try to get pics/document the process and post it up. You could be the one that has all the answers for the next guy.

Looks like the Nevada DMV had no issue registering the car with Canadian instrument cluster that shows KM on the odometer. They converted it to miles and put it on the paperwork as miles. If wife wont complain about it, i'll probably spend that grand somewhere else...

In 2006 we brought a CR-V from Mexico, the genius at the MVD logged the kilometers as miles. Did not say a word about the KPH speedo.
