I got a pretty sweet offer on my '17, if I took it I'd have 6k in equity to put down on a newer truck.

Mine only has like 62k miles, worth trading in for a newer year with less miles?

Do you owe anything on the 17? Do you have enough to pay for cash for the new one? Are you going from no or a small payment to a big one, even with the $6k?

You only live once. Do what makes you happy. Or wait to see what the 2022s will be if Toyota ever releases them.

Yup I owe on it, just purchased last year. With the trade in amount I was offered, I'd be up 6k. Not paying cash i'll finance, my payment is under $500 now.

I'll be interested to see what the '22s actually look like for sure.

Mine is also a 2017 model and I have no plans of giving it up for another 3rd GEN Tundra. I might trade after a few years when the new GEN 4's come out. It seems that I have read a lot of people complaining about the following items on the 18 and up model Tundras.

    1. Problems with TSS and sensor related issues in front grille.
    2. Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to delete the trans cooler. Your 2017 has one.
    3. I have read of a few people having trouble with the push button start system.

    Just something to think about...

Would probably keep the '17 as there is really nothing new on a newer model that would entice me to trade and increase the payment. Also your truck isn't even broke in yet. Good luck with your decision.

Nope. And if we are being honest I think your hoping we talk you into it because you don't think it's worth it either but want a newer rig? I'd wait for the 22 and save some more $$.

Correct haha. And a part of me wants either the hunter green or cement color.

keep it! according to your sig, you have a limited. yours comes with some nice features. you have less electrical stuff to give you issues as well as mentioned trans cooler if that makes a difference to you. you're closer to paying off and OWNING yours now, vs buying another. keep in mind, why are they paying you more for your truck? there aren't a lot of trucks out there available. if you sell yours, you're back in the boat of having to buy another truck. around me, everyone i've talked to that's been buying new trucks have been pretty much paying sticker price and not really below much at all if any. so now you'll be most likely spending more on a truck(whether monthly or in the end) and will have another 3rd gen. i've been offered almost exactly what I bought mine for and will not trade in for essentially an equal or lesser(in my personal situation/opinion) truck. i have a 2017 as well, but don't have a need/desire to buy a new truck. i paid mine off 380 days after purchase, so maybe that's why i'm possibly a lil biased.
kinda same thing happened when i recently had my house appraised for refinancing (lower interest rate and putting in a pool). we've lived there for 5 years now and started with about 75k in equity from day one, 5 years later had about 140k in equity, and once appraised now recently...we have over 260k in equity. would selling be nice....absolutely! but i'm in the boat of having to buy another house. and right now around me with the 2 hurricanes that hit a few months back, houses are selling quickly and for asking price (and more in some cases).
just something to think about/consider. i'd personally wait for the 4th gen to release late this year and make a decision. you can get your vehicle wrapped for about $5k if color is that much of an issue for you. i believe you'd still come out ahead. i'm prob wrong though....i AM married.

Makes perfect sense. I would want to try for a few grand more than what they offered already if I did pull the trigger, tough part is finding a newer one in the color I want for a reasonable price.

Ummmm...... also 62k miles is literally almost brand new too!
At least it is to me vs getting a bigger payment to get lower miles.

My payment is $0 and I like to keep it that way and I can.

Sooner you pay off that truck, sooner you can add the freed up 500 to your monthly 401k contribution if your not already maxed out at 19,500.00.
