I just purchased 2021 Tundra & my engine @ idle is noisy. My wife says normal moving parts throughout engine. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Apparently you haven't learned yet to listen to your wife. Normal moving parts throughout the engine.

You will find some who say that they too thought the engine "noisy" and found that they could make the engine "quieter" by using a different brand/or weight of motor oil.

Welcome! These engines are known to be a bit noisy. If you’re worried about it, go back to the dealership and have them crank up another one so you can compare.

I went from the 4.6 to the 5.7. The 5.7 is much more vocal mechanically. totally normal. I just had my oil changed at the dealer as part of the two year service. It does seem to be a little more quiet with the Toyota oil? It's very quiet when I forget to put my hearing aids in:thumbsup:

Thank u all for your comments. My next trick will be installing fog lights. I have standard SR model ( work truck ) However it came Silver Metallic Gray w/ Black TRD RIMS,Running Boards & Nitto Grappler tires. The wiring is factory installed behind front fender. I’ve been advised to purchase fog light fuse & change out light switch on column along with lights of my choice. Any thoughts on install. Thank you

I went from a 4cyl 2000 tacoma to the 2020 used Tundra with 11K and wow wow wow. Much noisier on cold start up with a very high idle...
I do know they want the cats to get to temp very quickly these days. Jus gotta get used to it. ;)

I just changed out my wife’s 2020 Highlander w/4700 miles. I had the same experience at dealer last week. Just tire rotate no Oil change. My Tundra 2021 has 2900 miles & I will do the same soon using Toyota 0/20. I would like to share with you Tundra enthusiast that yesterday while @ car wash spoke to a young gentlemen next stall over who happens to work @ the Toyota plant here in San Antonio.(Engine Assembly Dept.)I proceeded to take advantage of the many ?’s I had. Noisy engine when new, his reply “Springs on the valves-lifters very tight will quiet as they break in. To use a different weight oil is not a good idea “ stick with 0/20” the ports are smaller for oil to travel & yes engine will run quieter but long term effect on motor is not good. “Works harder” Bottom line normal for engine to sound noisy with all moving parts. Inspection at the plant starts with frames “every weld” etc. on down the line. If something doesn’t pass, the vehicle doesn’t either till corrected. Just thought I’d share.
