For what I'm hopefully going to be talking about in the next day or two, probably not. But there is something going on where our paint booth might be up and running in not too long, and we're going to be able to do lower volume colors through there.

 

What color though? I'd hoped they'd roll out all colors. I checked on the gloss black and it was 300 after shipping. If I remember right with the bumper covers the silver was more expensive.

 

I already replaced my chrome with the OEM Cavalry bulge and a painted Pro Grille but took advantage of the coupon to order rear bumpershellz. I have plastidip on there now but the shields will hide that little dent that I put in one of the fender ends.

 

That doesn't seem right for the gloss black. Are you sure the coupon code was applied? You Should have been right around 230-240 after all was said and done. Even without the code, you still should have been under $300. Let me know if you want me to look into it more.

hmmm....I ordered the shiny black but if you're going to have the midnight black, can I just call and change my color on Wednesday?

 

Got my tpo covers on today. Install was super easy, all the holes lined up well. Color and texture is still a little off, I’m guessing once they fade a bit and get dirty, you’d never tell it wasn’t OEM.



On my 4th and final piece, I noticed a defect that is already driving me nuts

You can see there is an inside corner that must have had to be cut by hand, there was a quality control name on the inside of the shell, but the guy went above and beyond the normal cutting, must’ve slipped with the utility knife and didn’t say anything, and you can see a Chunk of chrome right away. Of course its on the rear drivers side, so i see it every time i get out of the truck. If I hadn’t done 3 of the 4 covers already, and if it didn’t take a month to get the covers, I probably would’ve sent them back. I’ll still send an email in, but to redo a cover is going to be a huge pain. Just make sure you give every cover a thorough check before installing any of them.

I stuck around since I got my front painted covers, oh can't wait! After being in this thread for so long it's interesting to see how many people can't stand the chrome! Before my time chrome was all the rage

 

I think I have an edge like that too. I chalked it up to how they were and maybe I didn't overlap it enough etc.

I'll have a look and see if I can snap a pic of mine. Like someone else suggested, I was just going to spray a little black in there and leave it be.

Ashamed to admit... my plastic covers 'fixed' a small dent I had put in the bumper as well!

 

I replaced my rear bumper so I have smoked mesquite caps available, actually have the whole rear bumper available

 

I've been going back and forth on waiting for painted MGM (I'm on the waiting list) or TPO bumper ends.

@Swarley and @Alphamale have convinced me to go TPO.

One reason, if by chance someone backs into me and screws up one of my covers, @EC1 could easily sell me a single TPO replacement than an MGM painted one.
I park in a large employee parking lot and the chances of this happening are high.
I have the door dents to prove it.....

 

Sounds like we are in the same boat.

To the painting guru out there, for metallic sky silver, which primer (color/type etc.) would you recommend? Should I still sand ABS itself first still before the primer? TIA !!

 

Absolutely. That's actually a good note to anyone. If anybody wants to change their order, they can do that any time up to 48 hours before it is scheduled to ship.

 

Yes, still sand with 400, and then move to 600. After that I would use an adhesion promoter for the best longevity. I can send you the brand we use if you want. Not a painting guru, but just been around this a lot obviously haha
