How is your microphone in the truck when on the phone? I have a 19' F-150 work truck and its loud and clear on the other end compared to the tundra. From feedback from others its muffled, is this something normal on the toyota side, or is there a way to clean it? Unfortunately, the first owner was a heavy smoker, unsure if that would cause a buildup?

I do have same issues since new.
Did lot of research, can’t find solutions.
I’m about to change my JBL unit and go after market

I had a case open with corporate about the same thing. They gave me the "have the dealership test it" bullshit. So after they *tested it" and said it was working, I called corporate back while I was driving home and they couldn't hear me. I said "See!, It sucks balls!". Their solution was to have me roll up all windows, close the sunroof, shut off the blower fan, and speak towards the microphone. I told them they were funny, and said if you can't hear me, then there's a problem right? So if it's hot or cold out you can talk (loudly) on the phone but you can't have the heat or AC on, or any fart of wind in the cab.
I hung up and ripped everything out. The Alpine I put in has zero issues and I can have my sunroof open, AC, heat or anything else on while talking, Perfect.

Does the alpine integrate over or is it a whole separate operating system?

I gutted the entire oem system. 100% new wiring for a completely separate aftermarket system. (But idatalink maestro interfaced with the Alpine HU to the obd and steering wheel controls).
