I'm not sure I fully understand your question, as it seems you figured out how to post a new thread. Is there something else you're trying to do?

2001 tundra 4×4 flatbed. Right taillight went out.Flatbed was installed by dealer when new. Never any problems other than new taillight every now and then. I have read and read the thread on flatbed here. and on another forum. Will try not to make this too long. Live on farm, multiple trailers and equip. Not totally lost. Old light was led two wire. Bought two cheep lights at part place both three wire. After installing one, still nothing.would light up. Checked ground wire res 320 OHMS. Have wiring diagram. Found ground under right kick panel corroded. Cleaned and used diaelectric grease. Light worked on all functions. Left tailight working fine. You know, both taillights would be blinking when combo switch on right turn. While blinking. I checked ground, zero resistivity. NOTICED, when engaging RH blinker the ohms are going from 0 to 320 in sequence when light flashes. Ran a wire from neg batt post. Same problem. I solder all connections. Drilled and tapped frame ran another ground. Same. Replaced with new taillight and removed trailer wires too. Has factory colored wires. Same problem. Replaced flasher. Same problem. Before, tearing in to combo switch, I have questions. The taillights are 3 wire push in wire loom w/ ground on on mounting stud double nutted. Could the. Blinker wire be contacting the internal ground and causing ohm surge ? That would create a dead short right ? Do I need to go to truck parts and buy a better light ? Do I need a hodgens switch. Do I just buy a new combo switch. I thought I knew a little !!! Would greatly appreciate any help.My great grandsons think Im stupid now

Any red-lensed, three-wire light bought at a parts store probably has a single two-element bulb that combines all functions, i.e. tail/stop/signal, into one light. One wire for tail light, another wire for stop/signal, and the third wire for ground.

You refer to a "combination switch". If this something the dealer added with the flat bed? I'm unfamiliar with Gen1 Tundras, but prior Toyota trucks had the tail/stop/signal functions divided differently than US products. When I added a trailer receptacle to my 86 4Runner, I had to include a small black convertor box in the harness to provide separate tail light from stop/turn function. If that was a "hodgens" box, I would try replacing that if systematic electrical trouble-shooting is unproductive. They aren't that expensive as I recall.

Welcome from the Texas Hill Country.

Thank you John. I am going to buy an isolater. I have everthing hooked up on three wire but as you probably know the brake light overcomes the right turn signal.Love the Hill Country. I live in Brooks Co.

When you click "Quote", you can then add your new message directly below the quote in the reply box, and they'll come out together on your post.

I've done a little more research on those "black boxes", and these days, they are used in reverse from mine, i.e. for towing a (edit: three-wire) system vehicle behind a (edit: two-wire tow) vehicle (?). If you have a black box now, just be mindful of the "Input" and "Output" descriptions on the new box, and what you're trying to accomplish.

I didn't know anything could go wrong with the "block box", but if you've done your due diligence looking for voltage, then...maybe that's it.
