Today I am trying to push everything I can out to my first powder coater, then the rest to the other one tomorrow, with all that out of the way I will begin working on shipping these orders. I am going to try and package up some orders today and tomorrow, I am whooped, but I am pushing through

No stress! The influx of orders you got is probably insane due to the current theft rate. Appreciate you pushing through.

Tyler, I received my front and rear plates today. Thanks for the promo shipping. The 3/16 steel plates are very stout. I got the bare steel, in the process of painting them now. It’ll be a couple days until install, we’re expecting a little snow in the morning then rain for a couple days. I have the RCI front plates so I’ll post how the install goes. I’ve just greased up the front driveshaft zerks so they should be good for a little bit (that’s a hint for everyone else putting these plates on). I would recommend that you keep the person packaging these plates away from wrapping any xmas presents. Whoever it is loves that damned ridged tape.
They arrived well packaged, not that they’d get beat up. Thanks Tyler. Expand to other models, expand your shop, hire more people, American dream. Oh yeah, hire a tax guy.

I am really interested in how your install goes with the RCI front skid. I was thinking about selling the TRD Pro, since I feel like it will be a nightmare to install with the skids from Tyler, and getting the RCI front skid to match my fuel tank skid that i just got in.

I’ll let you guys know how it goes. Rci front plates and victory 4x4 sliders. It’ll be a few days as we’re gonna have crappy weather and I have a job I gotta show up for.

Ok. Good news and bad news. Good news is I was able to squeeze my hands through and get the bolts screwed in place for the front shield.

The bad news is the rear shield will not work with the SDHQ sliders because the sliders mount in the same holes the rear shield uses. I suppose the only way I can make it work is if I have new brackets made or if I find a way to weld the shield.

I’ll probably have to end up selling the rear shield and finding another solution for the rear cats. Bummer too, Tyler made a good piece of armor/theft deterrent.

Here are a couple of pics on where I had to slide my hands through in order to hold the nuts. The passenger side was def easier than the driver side. On the passenger side, there’s an opening by the oil pan drain where you can slide your hand in with the nut and hold it just enough for the bolt to grab it. I lost both the cylinder pieces so they’re still inside the frame support.

On the driver’s side, it gets really tight. You can squeeze your hand in with the nut right by the alignment bolt and hold it long enough to tighten it with a 15mm socket. I used a wrench on top to keep the nut from spinning.

I’ll probably end up replacing the bolts with security screws and use one of those cat straps around the catalytic converter.

Overall, very impressed with Tyler’s armor. Well thought out and super strong.

    Hope this helps.

update: 06-21, I got the plate to work for the rear skid plate and SDHQ sliders.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know. Did you end up reusing the trd plate hardware at that spot or did you use Tyler's supplied hardware?

Ok, what about using a threaded Allen drive stud for this location? First put on Tyler's plate, secure it on the bottom with washer and nut combo. Then slide on the trd and secure with another washer and nut? Not much security but if you put security bolts in all the other areas it wont matter if the middle crossmember gets undone.

I ended up reusing the TRD plate hardware, minus the cylinders. Those might be lost forever under my truck.

Let me know if you end up buying some security bolts and which ones. I might brave it again and swap them out on the TRD plate.

I'm determined to find an easy solution to this. I have a cheap idea to try. I'm going to use eye bolts in this spot, eye on top of the cross member. Assuming there is room I'm going to put a rod through the eye bolts and secure the ends. That should keep both bolts from spinning without having to touch them, leaving it easy to screw on the nut against the bottom of the plate. Then use security bolts everywhere else.

Damn, I didn’t realize that limitation! I just messaged Tyler to hold off on shipping these plates I ordered. I have SDHQ sliders and sure as hell don’t have money to waste!

It’s only the rear plate that won’t work with the SDHQ sliders. The brackets the rear plate mounts to uses the same mounting hole as the sliders. I’m not sure about other sliders.

(Step 4 from SDHQ’s slider install)

Sliders are so different with how they mount... what I have done in the past is cut the bracket and weld it to the slider bracket. You will never need to remove the bracket as the transfer case main plate comes out without removal of the brackets

Thank You Tyler for my Pro Comp Skid plate, looks great. I have some security bolts I ordered for the D E plate that I had to return that look like they may work with your plate. I will send pics.

Tomorrow is a big shipping day, if you are waiting for your plates to ship, watch for tracking numbers tomorrow

I need to go to the DMV in the morning to register my new trailer but after that is nothing but shipping plates all day

    Why the security bolts?
Isn't a hit and run thief with a Sawzall in his hand going to see the theft deterrent/skid plates and move on to an easier target?
Or do y'all think he's going to think of it as a challenge and bust out his socket set?

So, one can't just loosen the bolts of a TRD Pro skid plate and slide the Valhalla’s Shield under it?
It's been years since I installed mine and can't remember how I installed it.
Are those rear bolts the ones with the little wedge nut on them?

In my case, i am spending 700 bucks to protect 5 grand in repairs so why not drop another 40 bucks for one step higher level of security. If I do something, i like to go overboard too. You are right though, 9/10 thieves will see the plates and run, but there is always an over achiever and if your truck is out of sight, he might give it a shot.
