Well, it happened boys... After reading about catalytic converters being cut out in here, I decided to look into it and contacted KW at Desert Eagle 2 weeks ago, but our gears haven't caught on yet since he's so busy. Well, the truck got hit 3 days ago at 4am, and they got 1 cat out of 3 that they had cut out. I heard the sawzall and brought the G19 with me. As I ran up, they saw me and were able to get away with one cat.

My question is, do any other ones make these skid plates that are worth it? My truck is in at the dealer with an estimate of $4500, so I would like to have this plate on my hands as soon as I get the truck back.

Anyone have any leads to one? If I'm not able to find one, I'll probably just fabricate one myself with a grinder. I am guessing a 36"x36"x0.25" should be enough to cut and fit?

That's brutal.. I'd consider some pick and pull yards to find a suitable replacement and make this crisis into an opportunity for a new exhaust...it shouldn't be too hard to fab a plate up and I wouldn't worry about how it looks as it's hidden underneath. What part of the country are you in?

I am in Shitcago currently, for now. Until we escape the communist shithole , that is.

Insurance is covering it. Just paying for deductible.

Sorry but at least this a good time to have insurance! Could you look at some other skid plates that might cover the cats too? I'm not in an area that this happens...yet, so I have never considered looking at how much coverage the other skid plate companies have. Just spitballing ideas...

Damn that sucks. Check with your insurance company. I think comprehensive covers some.of it...others that have claims should chime in. Yes, DE is backed up. Contact Tyler @Classy63 and see what a turnaround time frame would be. He makes a front and rear plate.

So, they took the rear one as that was the easiest to cut out, but i caught them in process of finishing the 2nd cut on the driver's side to pull the two cats out. Not sure if they could pull it out with just two cuts... Either way, although I didn't let them take the other two, the system needs replacement like they were stolen also. Insurance will cover it and it's currently sitting at the dealer and waiting on the estimate from the insurance. Dealer already quoted it at $4500.

What is the turnaround for a skid plate from you? I need the thickest possible that you can make. Let me look at your options on the other page. Thanks

3/16 steel is the best of the best. I can send it bare steel or powder coated, look at the post and send me a message and I will help you out
If you don’t want powder coated, I can send you a bare steel plate probably next week

Get ready for a long wait, I am now at 4 weeks with a possible another 3-4 week wait on my cats. So many have been hit that all replacements are on way back order. Good luck to you. Working with Classy63 right now for my plates.

Is yours sitting at the dealer too? I wonder if I need to have my truck just sit there, or tow it back home. I hate for my property to sit somewhere, since I have aftermarket wheels, running boards.

Might be worth it if you have the garage space. I would hate to see the POS come back and try to steal more from you.

This sucks to hear man. I am in the dark here though, what's so great about stealing the cats? I've seen the threads popping up about it. Are the tundra cats special or something ? I don't get it.

Some seem to be more valuable than others it seems, but trucks are easy to steal from, because you don't have to jack it up to get under, and cut them out.

So is this just a tundra phenomenon or is it happening to the big3 as well?

All of them. There is a shortage of precious metals that are inside of them. Palladium was over $2600 per ounce.

If they're using Angle Grinders and Reciprocating Saws....is anything we put under there even going to slow them down?
