I have a 2014 1794 and i need to get a brake control for it. im thinking of getting a after market with the panel that puts it in the factory spot but notice they stick out and i kinda want to go the factory control route because of it. are the factory good? I notice the adjustment setting screen pops up in the gauge screen does that come up when the unit plugs in or do i nhave to have it programmed into it? thanks for the info!

Are the OEM controllers good? No...Well, maybe OK if you're lucky, and your dealer is good at fixing the issues.

Are they expensive? Yes...if you buy from the dealer. But, you may be able to find an owner ready to give one away.

Do OEM controllers put messages on the instrument panel? Yes, more often "bad news" rather than "good news".

Do the search, tons of anguished cries about OEM brake controller. Best option will be Tekonsha P3 mounted in stock location. It "sticks out" maybe 1.5 inches, but it's at dash level, not near your knee.

There are other options like the Redarc that only has a knob visible. (Sorry, it won't speak to you through your instrument panel either.)
