There are 2 different options. You have the Desert Eagle skid, or the Valhalla plates from Tyler. Tyler makes a plate that covers the same area as the DE skid, but he also makes a plate to cover the rear cats. Pic 1 shows what the front plate (either one) will cover. Pic 3 shows the area that Tyler's rear plate will cover.

I have been on Desert Eagles "list" for over 8 weeks now. Talked to him on the phone 2 times, and text him once a week. He keeps telling me "next week". I'm to the point I am going to just find a place that will make me one. He even once told me that he picked mine up, that was 3 weeks ago. Texted him yesterday, said maybe next week.

@beaver6713 @Safar85 in his defense he is slammed. He has referred a few of us to Don McGill Toyota of Katy. Ask for Frank in the parts department. If he still has some they will ship very quick. I got mine last week. 832-772-1000

The advantage that Tyler has is that he makes a rear plate as well.

I just got done dealing with Tyler. Got one in the process both front and rear. Also made out of aluminum so should be lighter. I don’t do any off roading so I’m not worried about a actual skid plate, more to protect the cats. As for DE, yes, he did state to me that he was swamped. Fully understandable, but 8 weeks of next week, next week and one I picked yours up then back to next week and so on. Not bashing, just frustrated. Tyler got me hooked up in less than a hour.

+1 on the antisieze. I'm not too versed in bolt grades but I use anti seize on anything I want to take off later, especially something exposed to the elements or dissimilar in material. I also prefer not to use stainless because it's such a bear to remove if it does become a problem later down the road. I know some industrial environments require this but I'm not sure our truck is one of them. I like to apply a little on the first few threads of the bolt.

Text him directly, he answered me right away, also included a few pictures. I am on a 6 inch pro comp lift, he makes one that bolts right up, DE I would have had to modify to fit.

No deals or discounts, sorry! The only thing I would consider is a cheaper shipping rate if I could ship plates together, but weight becomes an issue quickly

I think the plates themselves are priced well, especially given the current price of steel and other metals. Definitely cheaper that replacing the cats. As he mentioned, shipping is killer these days.

Not to mention the down time. If you was out of town and hit you would be screwed. I paid up without hesitating at all. Plus, after all this COVID BS, people need the business.

I placed an order w Tyler a few days ago, bare steel. PM’d him, he was very prompt at responding to my questions. I’m excited to get them, paint them, install, and review for everyone. I hope as his business takes off he branches out to other brands/models. Hopefully, as more sales orders come in he can expand and keep up. This is a huge money maker for him. I think that’s why desert eagle is at such a backlog. Dealerships w big orders are going to slow production down and drive pricing. Good for those guys for making a wanted product. $$$$

I guess it’s a little better than the tweakers having the skill or focus to steal the entire vehicle.

I just sent payment to Tyler, took a couple hours of back and forth and done. I got the front and rear cat plates in 7ga steel powder coated. He will be shipping next week. I'm excited to get this on for the peace of mind.

Nothing against Kent at DE, hes a nice guy and gave some security tips like using security bolts and filling them with silicone. But honestly weeks of saying call in a couple days is a little unprofessional, especially when there was no answer half the time. He wouldnt even take my money so I could just rest easy that I have one coming. If I hadn't of seen this thread and found out about Tyler's additional protection plate I would have still been waiting for DE. Tyler saved me from having to fab up an extension for the back cats.

It was a little under 700 shipped for all of it.

My prices are no secret. There may be some adjustment with metal prices rising more and refining the shipping.

Got my DE within 4 days of what I was quoted. I really appreciated him not taking payment until it was time to ship. I know that’s not doable for a lot of one-man shops, but it was nice to know that if I got the runaround and my timeline kept getting pushed back, I could go elsewhere without having to ask for a refund.

@Classy63 seems like a good dude with a solid couple of products. I’ll probably end up ordering a rear plate after I see that some of y’all receive yours with no issues. I’m just a little cautious at this point because I’ve been burned before on forum buys like this. Paying a shop up front with no real reviews other than “he was nice when he took my money” makes me nervous.
