If they come out with a Plug In Hybrid I'll buy it day one. Plain Hybrid It's a toss up between the F-150 and the Tundra. Mileage is very important to me. I'll then give my 2007 SR 5 DC 2WD to my son.

As for the ATV, that's why I got the Diamondback so I can carry it on top.

I looked at that cover but being that I couldn’t easily completely remove it, it was not a good fit. But I loved the ability to put the ATV on top and have all the storage on the bottom.

Really...I didn’t think that was possible. My Bakflip MX4 sucks so I may have to look into that now. I was starting to look at other covers anyway. Thanks

Yah, all that keeps it on is four clamps on the stationary middle section. The most time consuming part of installing it is aligning the latch brackets so they slide in to the track system, but once you do that the first time - you don't need to change anything when taking it off, or putting it on. Taking it off is as easy as loosening the four clamps and popping it off. It is nice to have a second person there with you to help you remove the panels - but it's absolutely doable by yourself.

Just to somewhat get us back on track temporarily, I was looking at the Chicago Auto Show website, and noticed they still had all of the vehicles up that were supposed to be displayed for the 2020 Show, and interestingly, they were displaying a 2020 Tundra under the "Production Vehicle" line, and under the "Concept Vehicle" line, the Tundra was listed there. When you click on the link for the Concept Tundra, it brings you to this page: (https://www.chicagoautoshow.com/vehicles-on-display/2021/toyota/tundra/), which oddly has a description of the 2021 Tundra. The reason I say it's odd, is because all of the 2021 vehicles were listed under "Debut Vehicles", which included many Toyotas, but not the Tundra. This is purely speculation, but I wonder if they were planning on showing the next generation Tundra concept at the show, but since it was canceled, Toyota asked them to not put the information up on the page since it's close to production, and instead of removing it from the Concept section, they just had the Concept link redirect to the "Debut Vehicle" version of the Tundra.

Since we wont be 100% sure the next generation is coming until Toyota announces it (Or apparently we already known since the Mods created the 4th Generation section on here), I thought this was a little bit more info to pile on that shows 2022 will likely be the redesign.

Same. I've found over time that the vast majority of the time that I use my truck bed, it's either to hold a few things that couldn't fit in our Highlander, *OR* I need the bed plus our 14' trailer. As such, the bigger concern for us was the back seat space.

I'll be selling the 2011, and getting one this fall. It'll be time at that point. I'll have about 125-130k on it, and 11 yrs. I had 11 years and 150k on my 2000 Tundra, so it's time. Great trucks!

I’m in too deep, upgrade wise on my current truck to give it away to an idiot dealership. Plus current truck is 4yrs old with 15,788 miles so it just doesn’t make sense to re-burden myself debt wise.
Also, I’ll be payment free in about 5 months and just did 5.29 gears with 37’s and body mount relocation. Really makes me look at my truck and nod approvingly now...

"The recent debut of the Lexus IS 500 F Performance and its 5.0-liter gas V8 (with 472 horsepower) sparked new rumors that Toyota may put a version of this V8 engine in the new Tundra as well. We will have to wait and see what Toyota will actually offer in the end."

    V8 option please

    2022 Lexus IS 500 manages 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque.

Less torque than we have now. They would need to get those torque numbers up for the Tundra.

Agreed. I wonder what the torque curve is like. That was one of the big issues with my last truck ('13 F150). The 5.0 liked to rev, which is fine, but a) it also made most of its torque up higher in the power band, and b) it had 3.31 gears, which to me is ridiculous for a vehicle one plans on towing with. own low, which is not fine. LOL On paper the 5.7 in the Tundra "only" has 20 more HP/16 more TQ, but between that and the 4.30 gears it's an entirely different animal.

The V8 in the Lexus F cars (and now the IS F-Sport Performance) is a UR series, so if your looking to have a version of that engine in the Tundra, look no further than the current gen. :) I do think it would be great to have the Yamaha tuning and direct+ port injection treatment applied to the current 5.7, pair it with the 8 speed trans or the 10 speed would be a great option aside the turbos.

re: 2022... I just hope they put the handbar on the drivers side back up on the A pillar.... I was surprised last year test driving, that they'd removed it... I use that all the time, even with my step bar.

You do not want the 2UR-GSE in a truck. The engine is a gutless boat anchor under 4000 rpm. After 4000RPM it's a beauty. I've owned a RC-F and LC500 and would not want that engine in a tundra.

Indeed, and the LC500 has a 10 speed. With the Cruiser and LX, they decreased the axle ratio due to the lower first gear on the 8 speed. Mileage isn't vastly different but I think some of the 8 speed LC owners might challenge the performance argument, especially when lifting or running larger tires. In either case, Mr.T can't release a new truck with the 6 speed and expect to compete, even if more cogs is only better on paper or marginally better overall.

The real benefit IMO would be tuning and applying the tech from the 2UR to the 3UR and see what they get. Who knows, maybe that have in testing and it does nothing for a truck platform, just speculation at this point.
