Wanted to thank everyone who has posted information on this forum! I live on the dry side of Washington State and bought a stock 2013 5.7 SR5 4x4 with tow package and 95,000 miles a month ago. I upgraded from "Helen", our old 98 Dodge 1500 with 180K miles. I am not sure what to do without a cassette player in the dash!

Anyway, the thank you is this - through this forum I have done the following:
    • Upgraded to Auxbeam LED bulbs.
    • Replaced front, rear, and transfer case fluids with Mobil1 75W90 (the front was a PITA, my $8 fluid pump didn't work so had to get creative on the fill). I'm guessing these had never been done.
    • Replaced the wheels with 2020 TRD wheels off CL. The old wheels were stock steel that someone had painted black.
    • Installed a P3 brake controller.
    • Interior LED bulbs.
    • Greased the drive shaft U-joints (all 5, easier than I thought it would be. Based on the amount of grease, not done or not done recently).

Projects for the next couple months:
    • Junkyard auto-dimming mirror with backup camera LCD and tailgate latch/camera ordered for install. Verified that I have the complete wiring for the camera/rear view.
    • Replace the non-JBL head unit with something else (to be determined).
    • Start doing drain/fills on the tranny each oil change until the fluid is fully turned over. Going to go with Toyota WS.
    • Torque the drive shaft bolts.
    • LED backup bulbs.
    • LED bed bulbs.
    • Going to let the dealership replace brake and power steering fluids.

Not planning to make any big mods, just make the truck more functional, enjoyable, and get on top of the maintenance. The primary mission is to pull the camp trailer around. As a guy who enjoys turning my own wrenches, I am pleased with access that I have and ability to get to do routine maintenance stuff. My rule of thumb is if it requires a specialized tool, someone else can do it. If not, it's me.

For those that complain about the mileage, I am quite pleased. Helen got 13 mpg and I had to run 89 octane to keep it from pinging when pulling a load. So far with a mix of highway and city driving I am at 15 mpg and $0.20 cheaper gas.

Enough intro, again thanks to all who have contributed.Tundra in the Snow Cropped.jpg

exactly what ive been trying to do. i dont need to pretend i have the limited model, but the steel wheels on my truck make it look like a damn fleet vehicle, lol. found a few sets for $550-650 right after i bought the truck, but i was waiting to see how the dust settled with loans and transfers and such... now everyone out there wants friggin 1200 for the damn things. guess i just gotta be patient! hoping some of the bbs trd pro wheels pop up instead. those id pay 1200 for!
