I have a 2007 Tundra I just bought. The key to the ignition doesn't work anywhere else. Not the door, tailgate, or glovebox. I'm assuming the ignition was changed out. Not sure why you wouldn't keep the old key for everything else, but My question is this: If I take my tailgate lock cylinder to a locksmith and get a key made wouldn't that key normally also fit everything else? Or would it be cheaper to replace door and tailgate cylinders? I need to be able to get in the truck without the key FOB. Found out the hard way when battery died and had to call a locksmith to open door. Thanks for any help.

Gatordan129 - The ignition tumbler was worn at the same rate as your key that works. I had the same thing happen as well. I went to the dealer to get a new master key cut to be able to use it on my tailgate lock. It's a very inexpensive solution to getting a new master key cut (without the transponder). It will solve your problem. Also, consider getting a tailgate power lock which will lock/unlock with your power door locks.

Are you saying that you rekeyed your ignition to match everything else? My ignition and door are not the same so I guess I'm not sure what you are calling a master key. Thx

Gatordan129 - No the ignition was not rekeyed, I used the original. You just go to the dealer with your VIN# to get a new "master key sans immobilizer"
