Hi! I'm new here and my first Tundra. Gonna upgrade ASAP....

Hi! I'm Ryan and I don't know shit about cars or trucks. I did own a '91 Jeep Wrangler that I aquired. It started off stock, but ended up with a suspension lift, a body lift, 33' super swampers, a wench, and some other mods. I learned a lot from this. It was also a four-wheel drive. I had to sell the Jeep a few years back. I still don't know shit about cars/trucks, although I understand the basics when it comes to mods and why they're necessary.
I've aquired a 2000 Toyota Tundra. All I know is that it is stock, it's only got 44,000 miles on it, it's a V8, and it's 2-wheel drive... Having owned a 4wheel drive jeep, I feel like there isn't much you can do with a 2-wheel drive vehicle when it comes to off-roading. I guess as long as I'm with a friend and they have a way to get un-stuck, I'll tag along. Maybe I'm wrong.. Maybe there is a way to take on the 2-wheel drive as a challenge. Anyway, I'm looking forward to what I can learn in my new (to me) Tundra.

Welcome, wow that's low mileage. Must have been garage kept. You come to the right place. Tons of info and experience, plus some bad-ass trucks.

 

Congrats on the new ride, there are a lot of decked out 1st gens out there. I would think lifting a 2wd isn't as big of a pain. A rear locker would probably be beneficial if you plan go off road often. Maybe a winch if you go solo, but like you said, as long as you are with someone that can pull you out it shouldnt be a big deal.

Welcome and congrats on that nice find.

 

2wd you can do TONS with it.. Turn it into a prerunner man.. same thing most guys do with 2wd tacomas jack them up go desert off road.

Don't let the 2WD scare you. There's lots of mods. Especially for 1st gen.
Like most of the guys said...depends on your use: trails, etc., add the locker. That rig you have, would be a great "runner". Fender mods, long travels, skies the limit.
