Wiper Blade Resting/Off Location ?

I left my wipers on when I turned my truck off. The next time I started it, ice was on my windshield and it jacked up the wiper location. They went up all the way but were stopped by the ice coming down and got in a bind. Now the furthest they go down during the cycle or turned off is about 3” higher than normal. They’re not bent. It seems like they rotated on the studs they’re mounted on but I don’t think that can happen w/out them stripping the knurling on the studs and that didn’t happen. How do I go about getting them to go down all the way like before?

 

So you took them off and nothing seems stripped? Have never had mine off, is there a key that aligns them together, or can they be placed anywhere on the splined stud?

 

See if you can find alignment marks on the windshield. They are small marks used to align the wipers during installation. Just loosen them up and set them on the marks and tighten them back down.

 

I did not but they’re functioning normal. From past experiences with similar instances, the wipers wouldn’t function properly due to the studs getting stripped. This is like they reset themselves to a different arc of motion length, which seems pretty much impossible.

I will look for this.

 

I used a bit of force and they went back into place. I guess they’re just pressed onto the stud and it has no knurling. I didn’t want to force them but saw no other option. Hopefully the studs don’t get jacked up from this. Thanks for the input!
