I see, then spacers might be worth a try. At 1.25 that will push you to 3.25 backspace, thats pretty aggressive and you'll be deeper in the pinch weld but it can be done.

 

@Darkness, glad to see my maths right lol. Offset and backspace confuse the hell out of me. I commented on 2006tundra’s build thread on here to see just how much trimming he did. He’s running 17 inch methods with 1.5 in spacers and 285’s.

 

@Cummins3500 i hate going by offset. It screws up math every time worrying how wide a wheel is, the dividing it, then caring about mm vs inches. Backspace is constant.

 

@Darkness , I try to work off backspace as much as I can lol. If I went with custom ordered 1 in bora spacers id be at the same backspace as some of scs’s more aggressive wheels. I was looking at 1.5 spacers till I realized the truck, I was wanting to look like had wheels with a 4.75 backspace. Plus the 1.25 spider traxs are an off the shelf option

 

I'm rocking the AT51s and have liked them so far. Been quite mild here this winter, though

I love driving in snow when I have nowhere to be...preferably 1/2 foot or more. Back in 2003 we got almost three feet dumped on us in VA. I had my 98 Tacoma dug out before anyone else by a day or two. Everything was closed for a week. It was just me, the plow trucks and a handful of other people in 4x4s...that was a fun week.

 

Visiting friends in Birmingham right now and we planned to drive up to Nashville tomorrow to spend the day...doesn’t look like we’ll be doing that now, thanks global warming

 

Yeah, it's gnarly here. I wanted to call in, but work changed the "foul weather" policy two weeks ago when news broke about this weather from a point per day missed to a half point per day missed, and they take 8 hours of vacation time per day.

We have a trip coming up in the near future, and need to conserve vacation days.

Pops and I are sharing a hotel room.

We left my truck at the house. Theres 10 inches of snow in some places, and ice in others. Driving the sequioa.

I'm not sure if I posted here about it, but last week it was down for a massive oil leak. I crawled under yesterday, and found a rusty k/n oil filter pops had used...

Oil pressure popped a tiny pinhole in the sidewall of the filter.

Not sure why anyone would use a rusty oil filter other than my dad...

4X4 is fun out here.

Not 100% sure if this is the perfect thread for this post. But for those of you who have put your blood, sweat and money into working on your Tundies. How many of you use a service manual, i.e. Hayes Repair Manual, etc. After two years of working on mine off and on, I always found myself here to find tech specs and diagrams. And for the most part props to all of you for putting the right stuff on here. And I finally spent the $35 to get one and holy #h!t how have I ever lived without one.

 

Mine was free. Its a good tool.

 

You can find the toyota factory service manuals on here and online with a little digging. If your impressed with a Hayes the FSM will blow your mind.

 

I'm thinking about adding one of these horns to my truck. I figure it'll scare the hell outta some deer.
