Good morning guys, hope everyone is doing well. First, I would like to say I am new to the forum and new to the Toyota Tundra. Been a Chevy guy all my life and recently sold my 16 Silverado for a 21 Tundra and loving it.

I do have a question that I know has beaten to death but there’s a specific variable I can’t find an answer for. During the break in period, probably 600 miles in or so I had to take grandma and grandma’s car to an auto shop during a colder snap in weather. The truck was idle due to running the heater for an hour while I delt with the shop while grandma sat in the truck. Now, I know it’s not good to idle for extended periods but do y’all think it would cause significant enough damage to be concerned?

That's a diesel problem not a gasser problem. In reality every hour of idling equates to around a certain amount of mileage on the oil use meaning if you idle alot change your oil a couple hundred miles earlier. Then again it's a toyota so honestly do your maintenance and it won't be too big of a deal.

I wouldn't worry about that for another second. There's not way idling for an hour caused any sort of damage.

I doubt there's any damage done to your baby due to an extended period of idling.
That's likely part of the "torture test" Toyota (and other manufacturers) puts its vehicles through prior to production ~ I know BMW used to do exactly that with their motorcycles in development.

This morning. I have no issues idling for a longer period of time during cold snaps. At -25F it takes 30 min just to warm up the cab (warm, not hot, on recirc).

Although 1 hour is not something I would want to do every day, hurting the Tundra would not be a concern of mine.
