Hey guys my tundra is making a weird noise when I start it up. But it goes away. My truck under warranty. This is a 2019 tundra. Any ideas? I just noticed it when it’s cold when I start up.

Sounds like it might be the fan clutch. Show the dealership the video and ask them to have a look.

Toyotas can have a roar on cold start- My tundra and 4runner both can sound like a jet engine prepping for flight on 1st start. And it is noisier in cold weather too.

I think Chris is right, fan clutch. Could be fine but I would still have dealer check since you are concerned.

Last weekend I was out of town so the truck was parked outside. It got down to -10F and -17F the 2 mornings I was there when I started my truck. It took about 3 cranks and I heard the same noise after starting, but mine went away after 1-2 seconds. I initially thought the starter didn’t disengage and was still spinning. Since I got home, I haven’t heard the noise again.

What was the temp when you filmed this? I see the snow on the hood.

Have someone else start the truck and stand in front with hood up to see exactly where it’s coming from. I tried this but mine hasn’t made the noise again.
