I’m relatively new on this forum, so someone can direct me to an old link if this topic has been exhaustively discussed. I recently purchased the avatar pic 08 Tundra crewmax with ARE shell and full bed rug inside. It has 4 big C shaped clamps that hold it on. I tightened all 4 of them a bit, but still getting distinct clunk when on rougher roads. Any tips?

I have had toppers on all my trucks, Nissan, Tacoma, and tundra.
What makes you sure that the sound is coming from the topper?
Never heard of this but there’s always something new to learn!

You have a very good point. I’ll do some more diagnostic work, and hopefully have better info! I didn’t know if anyone else had experienced it?

I can barely even make out the topper in that micro picture anyway but it looks like it is Fiberglass?
The ARE fiberglass shells fit over the bed rails usually and rest on the rails completely if in the right spot so I have a hard time imagining that being the source of noise as long as the thing is seated fully and sitting flat?

I would look to the tailgate maybe or even the rear window of the shell though I can not see yours as the gate/shell meeting spot could flop around I guess if not tight when latched?

@ezdog , yep. It’s the back hatch/glass... needs new latches! Thanks.
