    Hello!

I have a 06 Tundra ( under 150k miles ) that recently started making a "whining" noise that is heard when the truck is idling, mostly goes away once you start driving or under load. Appears to be coming from the passenger front side of engine. Any ideas of what this could be? It has been intermittent but recently the noise seems to be happening all the time.

Possibly a pulley bearing? power steering pump? pump fluid?

Link to youtube video link below for audio.

    Thanks!

Is it only when warming up or when warm too?

Try isolating it listening with a stethoscope or through a garden hose. To me it sounds like it’s possibly an accessory. I’ve got a noisy power steering pump but you can hear the ball bearings, it doesn’t sound like yours although that doesn’t necessarily rule it out.

    Probably the alternator.

remove the belt and run it for a minute to see if the noise goes away. Then go from there with a stethoscope

    Thanks for the tips!

Noise seems to be intermittent at this point - didn't make the noise this morning both cold and warmed up. I've got a stethoscope on order ill dig deeper once the noise comes back.

I've got the same noise coming from the same location. I've narrowed it down to the power steering pump. Try turning the wheel back and forth while it's running to see if it gets louder or changes tone at all
