I got the Goodyear Duratrac 275/55/R20 with my 'TSS' version Crewmax. Nice looking wheels but the IMO the tires are pretty soft for towing. I had Michelin E-rated tires on my old Tundra and it felt like it was on rails.

Hard to justify getting new tires immediately, I guess I'm planning on wearing out these OEMs first.

Will tire shops take old 'newish' tires in on trade?

Some tires shops do take trade ins on good used tires. Or buy new tires then sell the old tires on CL, FB , or forums like this.

I tried duratracs for a week back in 2010. Even e rated duratracs felt like the sidewalls were spaghetti in the corners i know exactly what you’re describing by soft

You’d most likely get a better price selling them privately. About 30K mikes on my 18” D-tracs and still lots of tread left. They don’t wear really fast despite their soft-ish compound, so if you don’t like ‘em, better to dump them while near new.

Yeah I notice this too. Especially after dropping my pressures all around from 55 (which Goodyear inflated them to upon install) to 40. It got too soft in the corners. I decided to go back up a bit. I’m at 48 on a cold day now. It’s better.

Got me thinkin that maybe 55psi was right after all...

I’d sell them and buy what you want, used tires on Craigslist do pretty well.

    Indeed, just like that!

They are very good for going over speedbumps at full speed, feels pillowy.

I drove the stock tires for 6k miles. Sold them on Facebook market place for $500 sold within a day and used that to justify purchasing brand new tires to replace brand new tires!

    Try running them at 50-55psi?

Have you checked your tire pressures?

If you prefer a more firm ride / tow quite a bit, then perform a chalk test and inflate tires to max psi where you still get good chalk test results.

Or take the 5 minutes to air up/down when you tow.

Sold mine to my shop guy and grabbed a killer deal knowing exactly the miles on tires from documentation... Helps too.
