Catching up on the last couple weeks..

Ceramic XPEL XR Plus tint all around, via Tint Masters in Houston. 5% for everything behind the front doors. 20% on the front doors. 70% on the windshield, and 5% brow just to make it less obvious. I was concerned about going darker, but I think I could have easily gone 50% without issue.

Met up with a close friend at his shop yesterday and had the Amp Research steps installed. A couple of hiccups along the way, since Amp's wiring instructions for the 2021 weren't quite right. A couple hours of troubleshooting, and some forum browsing helped resolve the (seemingly simple) issue, and we're up and running. My ONLY complaint (and its insignificant) is the LEDs are more blue than I'd prefer. I may look at a 5500k mod, but honestly, they serve the intended purpose without any legitimate issue.

On deck, is the AJT dechrome of the interior and the VLED 5500k interior kit.

I placed the order with James/Tech12Volts for an entire kit. Audiofrogs for the doors/tweeters, dual Arc 10s in their box with the TRD logo, JL amplification.
I'm torn on doing kill mat or something along those lines, ahead of the work. I know true sound deadening is more than just the vinyl material, but this will be a 10 year truck. So I almost feel like I ought to just make it happen. Audio stuff is 2 weeks out.

Mounted up the proholder. Very easy and seems to be sturdy and secure. Wireless charging is also a plus. I like the location and cheaper than the center console charger.

 

Looking pretty hard at the ProHolder, too. Mounting position is ALMOST perfect. What I can't find is confirmation that it charges an iPhone 12 pro (slightly different wireless charging 'connection' than previous generations). Also, In order to leverage apple CarPlay, am I correct in assuming it'll require a second cable? I only use it on 40+ minute drives, so it isn't an all the time thing, but I like Waze/iTunes being on the main screen and the phone charging.

 

I would assume you are correct about the second cable for CarPlay. I have a ‘16 so I don’t have that luxury . I would also assume it would still charge the iPhone 12 Pro

 

Added Odessey AGM with SDHQ terminals...at least the positive side, negative side would not tighten up on battery post. Contacted SDHQ to try to resolve. Anybody have issues with these terminals? Had to use the stock terminal on negative side until it gets resolved.

 

Installed the Rigd ultraswing mega today. Install is pretty straightforward but the license plate bracket took some work since I had to modify it a bit (just longer bolts & washers to move it out an inch so the bottom plate bolts would clear) to work with the LED illuminated license plate frame to stay all legal on the road. Made a custom wiring harness for the plate light frame using a 4 pin trailer connector and some andersen powerpole connectors.

Have the camera kit to install next but overall pretty happy with this! Waiting on the Rago Fab MOLLE plate for it so I can mount my Rotopax and some other stuff.

 

Love the swing away, need to buy one too! Looks great with the 5th OEM spare.

First two weeks of having this truck have been awesome! Managed to find excuses to get out everyday to have an excuse to drive.

Got it washed after the first trip up north for skiing. Took advantage of the warm day to do some work.

- ESP storage bins in the rear. Put the felt and carpet in the cutouts and lined the bins with some left over drawer liner from a toolbox. Really happy with how this turned out!
- Front cigarette to dual QC USB swap.
- Rear dual QC USB addition.
- ProHolder wireless charger installed.
- Mounted the screen for the dashcam system the prior owner installed, but left flopping around the console.

Debating what to do with the grille. Its growing on me, better than the OEM chrome look, but just looks like its missing something. Open to ideas!

 

Finally got the Morimoto license plate lights in, washed the truck and applied a light tint film to the reverse light portion of the taillights.

I would get a color matched grill and surround. The Sport honeycomb would look better for you. Mesh grills like that only look good when you put led pods behind them like i did on my 2013.

 

Added some TVD vinyl.

 

Installed Lux rock lights under the hood. These little suckers are bright.

 

Finally got her new shoes!!! FN BFD wheels wrapped with LT275 70 R18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2. A little rubbing on both front at full lock. Took the little front mud flap off and pushed back the lower plastic inner fender piece for the fix. Shout out again to Dustin at FN Wheels for excellent customer service.

 

Got bored so I took the dash apart and installed the Rago dash plate. I installed an ICS USB charger that is tapped to the 12vt lighter port. To prevent dash flexing, I drilled out an ICS mounting plate to match up with the top plate and screwed both sides together. It won’t be going anywhere. Now to determine which mounts to buy. Any suggestions?

 

Got a fresh new set of rubbers installed.....another set of Ridge Grapplers and new TPMS sensors. Now to try and get the things to register.
