I have a 2017, work field truck is a 2019 or 2020. Work truck has 3 blink lane change flasher relay.

Anyone know if I can swap the relays to get 3 blink lane change in my 2017?!

You can adjust that with Techstream or the dealership can change that for you.

You can change flasher relay hardware with software? That doesn't sound right?

    Have you done that?

99% sure it’s in the ECU, not the relay.

I don't think the relay has anything to do with the number of times the signal flashes. As @Jim LE 1301 and @RainMan_PNW said, there are ECU/software settings that can be used to change it. You'd need the stalk that has the two signal positions (bump for lane change, click for turn) and the compatible ECU.

I don’t have time ATM, but you could start with the wiring diagrams (hit the link in my signature) to compare the turn signal circuits in the two years.

from there, you’d need to start researching part numbers for the various components...I don’t know that the stalk itself really is any different, but for sure the ECU because the number of blinks is a setting you can change in techstream

I have not, mine does it 3 times. If you do a search you will see others have done what I posted.

It will only work on 2018 and newer... they changed that when they added in all the TSS stuff.

Gotcha. That's why I thought it would be a flasher relay itself. Didn't realize something like that would be in the ecu? Thanks.

I changed my 19 to blink 4 times with Carista software app and the OBD2 wireless adapter. Tech stream can do it .

also turned off my trucks annoying seatbelt chime

Is there a way to do this on a 2017? My 2015 Camry has this and I hate not having it

OK - here is the 2016-2017 EWD and the 2018-2021 EWD for the Turn Signal and Hazard Light circuits. I have NOT gone over these with a fine-toothed comb, but in a quick 60-second comparison, I'm seeing two major differences:
    1. The 2016-2017 has a different turn signal switch than the 2018-2021. The newer one contains an additional circuit (CR) - not sure what that circuit is.
    2. The 2016-2017 uses a dedicated flasher relay, which then sends the actual turn signals out to the individual lights and to the signals in the "combination meter" (gage cluster). The 2018-2021 does not have a dedicated flasher relay, and instead this is integrated into the "combination meter" which is also the guts behind a whole pile of other systems and circuits.

This tells me you would need at least to switch out the signal switch wand and the combination meter...and then start re-routing wiring based on sending wires from the flasher relay to the combo meter instead...and then start troubleshooting errors you get for other circuits integrated into the gage cluster that it might be expecting to see and is not seeing.

Yeah, that's way more work than I'm willing to do for that. Guess I'll have to get used to doing it manually...
