Today was the day I bought my first Toyota Tundra, super happy about the purchase already as I’m in love with it. It’s a 2011 with 102K on the clock. I’m just seeing if I can get any tips/tricks and suggestions on when I should change oil and filters and what kind/brands are best for something a little older and with a little more miles then I’m used to.

With every vehicle I ve owned it s been a new filter every second oil change, but with Tundra I change it every oil change. The first thing I did when I got my Tundra was to change oil, and filter. That way I m sure my timeline is right. Myself, I wait for the [maintenance Required] dash light to come on. That s the manufactures signal to change the oil, (unless you choose to change it more frequently). It appears every 5k miles. Just be sure to reset it after you change oil. I forget the proceedure to reset, but it s in the owners manual. I think the concenses is, if in doubt, use genuine toyota brand filters. Cant go wrong there. Welcome from Portland. :D

I buy OEM filters in bulk for $3-4 a piece from an Amazon or eBay seller. 0-20W Mobil One from Walmart....usually $22.99 for 5qt jug.

There are so many places to get OEM Toyota filters online that there isn't any reason not to use them. The only other thing I would note about the oil change is to get an accessible skid plate if the truck doesn't already have one. Lots of good ones out there. RCI is one that's not too expensive and lots of members on here are happy with it. The factory skid plate is just annoying to deal with.
Great Truck. Welcome from Winston Salem, NC!!

The first thing I do when purchasing any used vehicle is change ALL of the fluids and lube everything since you can't be sure when it was last done. Cheap insurance. I bought my 2011 a year ago with 150,000 on it and has been trouble free.

Welcome!! Like others have said at a min do the oil & filter unless you know when it was done. Same would be for the rest of the fluids. If no record of the front and rear differentials having been done it would be a good idea. Same for Tranny, maybe even brake lines and coolant. Nothing wrong with hitting the reset button on any of those and now you know where you sit in terms of MX.
