I want a backup camera that points to the whole back of what s behind me. I know of the cameras that are built into the tailgate handle housing, but those are mainly for the trailer hitch area aren t they? I m not sure of any other types. Anyone know of a good camera that gives a floodlight type of viewing range? My Kenwood has capibility to setup a backup camera, and I ve waited long enough.

Check the build link in my signature.
It’s a little blown out from sunlight, but this is the view out of the tailgate camera in my truck. It’s definitely more than just the hitch - those trees at the horizon are easily 120+ feet away. I think that if you have something aiming TOO MUCH behind you, you’ll miss out on the ability to use it for backing up to a trailer or tucking yourself into the curb lines for the parking spots in the city (I find that if I JUST have the line disappear out of frame from my bumper, I’m positioned perfectly).
