Truck is a 2020 trd pro. About 3700 miles.

I had to run a quick errand this morning, si hopped in, warmed up the truck for a few minutes, then got about 2 or 3 miles from home when my dash lights lit up and alarms went off..

    The trailer towing alarm
    The collision sensor
    Brake sensor
    Vsc
And one other one I cant recall.

The truck drove fine it seemed which was weird, but good!

I end up getting to my destination 10 minutes later where I cleared the alarms in the servuce menu, and restarted the truck. This cleared the dash lights, etc..all but check engine which is still on.

Truck drives normally..not over heating, no oil pressure issues, etc.

    Just the craziest thing!

I got an appt tomorrow at the dealershhip so they can run the codes and see what gives. Since we live in the woods my firet thought was oh great, rodents and wiring..and while I did pop the hood I didnt see any obvious signs of chewed wiring, although there are nuuts and stuff on the engine..

Anyone run into this kinda weirdness and it be something easy to fix?

    Edited for clarification

If there were nuts and debris on your engine.....that IS an obvious sign of rodents

Nuts and stuff are obvious signs as you do realize. Check your cabin filter too. Can't hurt:thumbsup:

Any ways to keep rodents away? Short of chaining the dog to my truck?

I would never put my nuts on the engine. Way too hot. Obviously something else left their nuts. Like a rodent.

I think a cat could make quick work of most rodents. Maybe not chickmonks or squirls though.

If you park in a garage and don’t have any animals out there all the time, one of those sonic pest controllers might work that u plug into an outlet. Or set traps.

I had a mere 6 mouse turds and I made haste to "grate" the HVAC intake on PS of truck with gutter-guard...it has prevented a lot of grief!

Im gonna take a peek at the cabin filter in the morning. I drop the truck off in the afternoon, so may not hear anything until sat. Will keep the thread updated tho.

Really hoping for the best and nothing crazy. Had my tacoma parked in same locale (carport) and never had any issues..but who knows man..

Didnt see any turds or any damage signs, so i dunno...maybe just a squirrel stowed some nuts in there.. lol. They do that to the wood racks. Heh.

Jackwagon they also sell some mesh bags of rodent repellent I put under the hood(zip tied) when I had squirrels getting in there. It worked, and I found them at an RV place.

You can sprinkle them around the perimeter and under the truck if rain will not be problem. I use them for vehicles I keep in storage. Never have problems.

I always set rodent poison out in my garage and even outside in one of those little plastic Tomcat brand bait stations the rodent has to go into to get their tasty poison treat. I’ll set it out against the corner of the house house right beside the truck hidden behind a basket of my kids’ footballs and basketballs. Right in the path a cautious rodent would take around my vehicles.

This doesn’t help for squirrels—they’re too big to go into the Tomcat bait station. Plus, it’s illegal to poison squirrels in Tennessee. For smaller rodents though, it keeps the population down.

We have had issues with squirrels in our attic. We used a Havahart trap with some peanut butter to trap the intruder. You gotta drive them like 10-15 miles away before you release them though, or they’ll find their way back. Might be an option for you if the mothballs or repellent don’t do the trick.

Got the diagnosis. Knock sensor wiring harness and plenum. Rodents alright. Mofo's!

Parts are on back order too. :(

I zip tied them to the bottom of the hood in four spots. No pics, I no longer have that truck. Under the hood I used sticky back tie wrap anchors with a dab of super glue for good measure. Lowe’s had those.
Also tied a couple down low, where likely entry points to the engine bay are.

Just use your imagination, put them anywhere they might get in. Cheap insurance and it worked for me.

Ah i gotcha. I got a bunch of those anchors for zip ties.

Mothballs are gonna be part of our solution too.. cant lay em out on the ground as our pug eats everything, so got some of those gutter gaurd perforated metal deals..the ones you cram into the top of the gutters downspout to keep leaves from plugging things up. Those are perfect size for a bag if mothballs. I used some copper picture hanging wire to tie em up so they cant be unrolled, crammed a mothball pouch in it, and wired a loop to hang it. Ill see if I got some small metal hooks to hang em on under the carport and see if that helps deter em.

Wife wont let me flame thrower the surrounding woods, and night time shooting is out (no supressor) so chemicals it is.
