Or do I avoid it completely?

2007 with 170k miles. DC 4x4 5.7. One owner, Texas truck. Ad says it has immaculate service history.

has a small dent in the back bumper and some clear cost peeling on the bed side and cab roof. It doesn’t look too bad I’m wondering if those will continue to get worse/start happening in other areas and really affect the value if I were to sell it in a few years. It’s listed for $12k.

I’d only drive it maybe a few thousand miles per year so the mileage shouldn’t be a concern I don’t think. But if I want to sell it in 4 years and the clear coat is all peeled, I do wonder if the value will be completely tanked by then.

I’d say the price is a little high. I bought a truck with a similar paint issue. I hated it the whole time I owned it but didn’t want to pony up for a new paint job/wrap

the pictures are poor quality but it’s like 10 miles from where I’m currently at for work so I could easily run over there. Just not sure if it’s really worth offering more than $10k on given the condition issues.

Have you even seen it yet?
Seems a little silly to think much about it until you have driven it and seen if it even interests you to me.

If say go look at it to see if you would want it. Then check kbb and offer something kinda low. The list for $12k is probably to leave room to negotiate.

They are asking top private party value for "good condition". Price in the $9-10k range would make it a better buy.

No, I’m mulling it over and seeking some opinions on that clear coat issue. If it didn’t have the issue I’d go take a look and probably still will.

Did it continue to get worse? As it is right now it doesn't look terrible from the pictures but my worry is it spreads everywhere and looks like crap.

When buying a used vehicle from the private owner, and no matter what the asking price is, you really should figure out what the dealer trade-in value is, and negotiate from that value.

Peeling clear coat means it was repainted. Often it's where the paint is blended to try and match the factory paint. One trick is to fade the base coat from full coverage on one side of a panel to no coverage on the other side. Then you clear the whole panel. But if you sand the old paint it'll show through the clear coat on the part that didn't get any base coat. If the painter didn't do the prep work correctly the paint will peel.

I have a 2007 4.7L Limited 4x4 117k and payed 15k last February, was a bit high on the price but was the best deal when I was shopping. I still look for other deals and the price seems to be going up
