Took my Tundra in for another FREE oil change for life a few months ago, the very next morning, I go out to take my son to school and the engine stumbles all over itself (but does start on the first try) had a CEL on along with a traction control off (TCO) message. Message and CEL remained illuminated for about 3 days and vehicle stumbled to start only on the first try, once engine was warmed up, starts / works normally. CEL and TCO message went away and stayed away for over a month. Today both were back on and first start of the day very rough like before. Have not had the OBDC codes read, will take it to Autozone tomorrow. Reading through many threads here, saw a few similar circumstances (from some kind of air pump problem) to rodents chewing up the wiring because some tree hugging libtard convinced Toyota (and Honda and ...........) to use a soy based insulation / lubricant on all wiring INSTEAD of good old reliable petroleum based insulation with Teflon. While I have not seen any exterior evidence of critters, I did notice some finely / partially chewed up papers I left on the rear passenger compartment floor last summer. The truck is parked outside always because the truck is too big to fit in my garage, and home builders are some real cheap bastards anymore (hence the smaller size garage) The last time the vehicle was at the dealer, I replaced all four tires (buy 3 get the fourth for a $1), oil / filter change / cabin air filter replacement. There was no mention by the tech of anything abnormal especially in and around the cabin air filter. Due to the fact that I have to park outside, I’m unfortunately leaning towards critter damage. Does anyone know a good place to start looking at closely under the hood and how does the plastic intake cover come off? I’d like to get this corrected and if it’s a wiring issue, do the Terminator on whatever is making a meal out of my $51k vehicle. Truck has 57867 original miles. Thanks.

Is it a Flex Fuel engine? If so, there is an updated fuel calibration that addresses this. Also, check to see if your truck falls under those that have a recall for the fuel pump.

Yes it’s the 5.7l flex fuel. Where can I find info about the fuel pump recall?
