    Hello I’m Joey,
Been on here for about a month and I appreciate all the rich information and community y’all have going. I will be buying a used 4WD Toyota this year. Budget ~$30k

My “pack” includes Wife, 2 kids in car-seats, large Rotty mix and small terrier.

    I’m debating between ...

    A. Tundra CM, adding a cap and securing dogs w create or harness in bed near rear can window.

    B. Sequoia and using 3rd row to harness in Dogs. need a cargo box most likely too

    Weekend camping/ranch trips mostly.

Any opinions or similar experience with either set up is welcomed and appreciated.

Welcome, Joey, from LA (Lower Alabama)!

I did the SUV thing when my kids were small. But I also had another truck for when I needed a truck bed. If you ever need the truck bed for things that are too large or dirty to throw in the back on an SUV, get the CrewMax. If you won't ever need the bed, the SUV will do.

    Welcome.
My preference would be the truck over the SUV because the CM still has a lot of room for the kids, probably more than the Sequoia middle row, but you have the practicality of the bed. When the dogs are clean you can lower the rear window, and when they are wet and smelly you isolate them.

    Crewmax would be my pick.

    Good luck with your decision.

Welcome from the DFW metroplex. I also vote for the CM. So much more versatile in my opinion.

I hadn’t thought yet about the dirtiness of gear and especially the dogs after camping and ranch trips. Thank you for the perspectives.

I use the bed on my truck wayyyy too much not to have one. Otherwise I’d likely be in a sequoia or GX460.

    And welcome from Fort Worth!

Suv and a small trailer also works great! If I didn't need to pull heavy load, i would stick to another 4Runner.

Welcome from the wet side of WA.
CM gets my vote, but that’s cuz I use a truck bed a lot. I almost went back to the DC for my 2021 (that’s what I had for the 2008), but my adult “kids” do appreciate the huge amount of space in the back seat of the CM. If your kiddos are still in car seats, the CM would pretty much leave you room for all of your luggage AND the kids in the back seat - there is an insane amount of floor space with the seats still down.
