Well there goes another door lock...
three down now over the span of 150k miles.
How has Toyota not addressed this issue yet.

Do y’all press the lock or unlock button more than is actually necessary? My daughters Lexus DS back door went out. I blame it on her pressing it 3-4 times every time she unlocks it and 3-4 times every time she locks it. They’re being used 6-7 times more than normal every time she gets out then back in.
Make 4 stops in one day and that’s 32 times the locks were operated in one day. They’re not designed for that usage.

I went in my settings to disable the double click to unlock for this very reason. After the first one I thought of this.

I have an aftermarket remote start that unlocks all 4 doors with one click so I don't have to click it more than once. So nope that's not what's happening to me either.

First I’ve heard of this somehow...what breaks? The switch or the actuator?

I don't have an explanation on why or how other than stated above by @The Patriot 1776 , but I've had a
couple customers that got through door lock actuators faster than most go through tires.
They can do it on multiple vehicles too, and multiple models. May be coincidence, my be something they're doing.
I've heard silicone like is in silicone spray, and some interior treatments can cause shortened life expectancy of
electrical components, not sure if you're using anything that contains it.

Mine was just the motors in the actuators. The first round was under warranty at a dealership and the price tag would have been like $500 a door with labor, the second round was out of warranty so I found replacement motors. A set of 4 put me back $10 and a little work to swap them into the actuator housing.

The actuator. I know a lot of people have issues with them.

There's a video on here somewhere on how to fix the actuator motor yourself with an inexpensive part.

Anyone know where that thread and video is?
