I recently picked up a '19 SR5 with 34K miles on it (been waiting a long time for it). I've noticed that when reducing speed, for a red light as example, the truck sometime has a noticeable downshift when shedding speed. Is that normal, as this is my first Tundra?

Sometimes yes, especially on down grades. Not sure how hard your down shift is though. Mine is noticeable, but did warrant any concern IMO.
