I bought a JVC aftermarket radio to replace the factory radio in my 2003 Tundra. I got the old radio out and got the new radio ready, but the wiring harness that came with the new radio didn't fit the factory wiring harness to hook up the radio. I (probably a mistake) cut the old harness off thinking I could hook the wires to the new harness, solder them, and then finish the installation. However, the wires don't match up (too many wires and not matching the colors) from the old wires to the new harness. Any advice would be appreciated.

What you need sir is a wire harness adapter specific to the radio setup and year of your truck. I hope you still have the end of your factory harness that you cut off. The colors on the aftermarket radio harness and the colors on the factory harness will not match. The adapter that you need to buy has a factory plug on one end, and wiring that matches the aftermarket wiring harness colors. Youtube university may be a good place to see someone install one.

Hopefully for you there's an amp behind the radio and you'll unplug the connectors from that to hook up to the harness.

In the future don't cut any wires there's no reason to do it on any vehicle after about 1990 with the harnesses available.

If you have already cut the end off, no big deal. The new radio should have come with a wiring diagram telling what each color wire represents on the radio.

Next you’ll need to find the radio wiring diagram for your truck. After that, it’s matching each wire from the truck to the corresponding wire on the radio. The colors more than likely won’t match but it’s pretty simple. Butt connectors that have the built in shrink tube have always worked well for me in the past.

A quick check of the speaker wires from your Tundra would be temporarily putting a AA or AAA battery across the wires you suspect. You’ll hear crackling from the speaker associated with those wires.

Put the connector you cut off back on and get an adapter harness. It will adapt the radio harness to the connection you just put back on.
