Hello all I am having an issue with my Tundra. When I start the truck the battery light is on & the volt gauge reads like 10 volts. Then when I get up to about 40 mph the light shuts of & the volt meter goes right up to normal and stays that way until I start it again. I had the alternator & belt replaced about 2 years ago at 200k. Any ideas?

Sounds like another alternator problem, it's not charging at idle, how long has it been doing this and what brand is the part.

UGH! I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. It is only 2 years old with a little less than 50k on it. The original went 200k. It is a Denso. I am having the place that installed it check it out this week.

Have them check the condition of the battery just to cover that base...

I would say battery... but first check your terminals it's the cheapest first, then have your battery tested, 2nd cheapest.. if all good, then you can say alternator...

When my batteries would go or the terminals were loose my volt gauge would drop and dance around.. no battery light though.. battery was gone most of the time.. I've gone through enough batteries to know... alternator still original on mine at 227k 07 5
    7l..
