What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

It's not painted chrome. The surround that came with the grill was white. New pro grills are not available with Barcelona red surrounds from Toyota. Sparks will paint the surround BR for you but that color has such a wide range of shades from the factory that you are pretty much guaranteed that it won't match unless you take steps to mitigate. I didn't want them to blend into the hood so I got the scan from PPG.

Gotcha. I ordered the BR bulge and grille from them a couple of months ago for mine and it matched perfectly.

 

New member, today I traded in the Taco and picked up a 20 TRD Pro. What a difference from my 17 Taco. So far lovin it, my first full sized and V8. Feels like a tank lol!!!
Loved the Taco, but looking to get a small toy hauler for the motos, Taco 3k tow cap wasn't going to do it.

 

Great looking storage setup. I'm looking at doing this myself here soon. Did you make yours from plywood? I love that extruded emblem look. Is that just an addition layer?

I wanted to install some of my Christmas goodies, but instead my wife wanted to look at properties. At least I got to put it in 4hi to drive around some woods, ponds, and actually had some fun driving in a very sandy area down by Styx River.

 

Thanks! Yes, it’s all plywood. 3/4” for the top and lids, 1/2” for the box sides, 1/4” for the bottoms. I used 1/4” ply for the emblem on top.

Added some Matt Gecko LEDs to the bed and swapped the rear 12v outlet for a fast charge dual USB to keep the kids happy on the road.

 

Sweet. I was planning on doing it all from 1/2 and getting it all out of one sheet. I was thinking maybe an oak plywood or something with a little better structure/quality. Did you use something like that, or just regular ole pine plywood? The structure looks good and I don't want to have to spend the money if it's not necessary.

How did you wire the lights in? Did you tie them in to the existing bed light?

 

Regular sanded pine ply. Top ply looks good is all I needed. I didn’t want to spend the cash on hardwood ply and have that top piece warp on me. It is painted on the underside, but ya never know. Only reason I used 3/4 for the top and lids is for 1/4” extra storage space, and the lids needed to be tough. Main reason for this whole setup is for my pup to be back there.

The kit comes with a toggle switch to mount in the bed. I ran the switch to battery power so these lights can be turned on independently at any time.

Damn Geno, that looks sick!!...awesome job man!!...I’m actually planning on doing something similar for the channel, I wanted to do it before winter hit but never got around to it...now I have the boat torn apart in the garage and making vids on that so this truck mod will probably wait until March/April unfortunately...don’t wanna do this outside in NEPA winter...hahaha...great job man, looks awesome!!

Congratulations! I haven’t been on the forum long but I heard the 040 Super White color is the fastest! These trucks do feel huge when you first drive but you’ll get used to it quick.

I would go with Baltic birch - it’s got more plies than regular plywood a holds up better to being abused a little. I built some plyometric boxes out of it for a crossfit gym 12 years ago, and those things are still getting jumped on every day by dozens of people without issues or noticeable wear.
