I ordered-and is currently on its way-the OEM Audio+ JBL enhancement system for my truck. The system includes a separate bass control knob that I’m not sure where I’m going to mount or if I am going to mount it at all. In my past vehicles I’ve always set the stereo EQ for the best sound for me and pretty much left it alone after that (maybe slight adjustments through the years but never on the fly for every song). Seems like most aftermarket “systems” nowadays include a separate bass control knob that is mounted independently on the dash or console area. I’ve never had a separate bass control knob. So my question is, no mater what system you have, if you have the separate bass control knob, how often do you actually adjust it?

I think it depends on your music source. Some sources, say Pandora, or other streaming can vary pretty wildly in sound quality. If I stream from my Plex Server I get a mix of FLAC amd MP3 sources. That said, I have a bass knob on my system and use it all the time for both the reasons above and when I just want to rumble.

also... I have an Alpine amp, and the knob is mounted to the left of the head unit in the bezel. However, I have a 2nd Gen.

Pretty much this ^. Every source can be different, so can recording levels. Some radio station DJs/announcers "color" their voices pretty bass heavy as well. I find this particularly annoying, so I adjust.

I use the bass knob all the time. Here is where I installed mine:

For normal listening, I keep it at about 1/3. When I want to blast a song, I turn it up all the way.

My system has so much bass and it would be too much to keep it at max all the time.

I use it all the time. Some songs need more or less bass. I like that I can adjust it on the fly without having to go into the audio control settings on head unit.

My DSP has a knob that controls the sub volume only. I have it right next to the center console and adjust it for almost every song.

This makes sense. About 99% of the time I play my music through Apple Music via Bluetooth. But I have noticed the sound difference between the different sources.

I use Apple Music all the time but some songs are definitely containing more bass than others. However, I have my amp’s gain set with the bass knob all the way up, so I know when it’s cranked up there’s no clipping going on. Sounds great.
But I will soon change my setup. It’s time for more bass. Probably do the 4 8’s bandwagon under the rear seat or say the hell with it and do a blow through with either a pair 15’s or 18’s. Have to do some more research to see how much space I would give up in the truck bed.

I had the OEM Audio+ JBL enhancement system, I found that I had to adjust the bass frequently. Also depends on volume level, as the factory JBL head unit drop the bass off as the volume increases. The bass knob was installed in the dash to the the left of the steering wheel. I really like what NetMonkey did with the bass knob, that is the perfect location.

    TEXAS!

absolutely love my oem jbl enhancment! running the dual sub. sound stage is PERFECT!

you will believe it soon enough, but the jbl speakers sound pretty damn good once you install the oem acoustical filters at the factory amp.

listen to a lot of ac/dc, zep, floyd, and other great classic rock. was concerned about the 8" subs, but they do deliver. rear view and side mirrors move w/ the music. i usually run about volume 45-55. i like it loud and clear. (however, it's not obnoxious)

    thunderstruck absolutely screams!

on the rare day i listen to rap, bone thugs will thump the subs. and i turn the bass knob down to about 50%

my bass knob is at 75%, and i never adjust. (except for tha bone thugs) my head unit settings are pretty much dead center at trebble, mid, and bass. i mostly listen to music from my iphone.

make sure your phone eq is set to flat. (read that on a thread here some where) makes a difference.

listened to some old music from the wifes android (stuff she "sourced" from unknown and a LONG time ago). was disappointed in the sound, however, i had to consider the source, or lack there of.

music i have legitimately purchased through itunes, and play through my phone, sounds really great.

could not be happier w/ my decision!

Maybe not every song, but if you change channels or genre of music, you will probably need to adjust it a touch.
Although sometimes it is indeed needed every song when iPhone shuffling ...:eek2:
Depends on what you are using as far as a input source.

I listen to a lot of XM.
Even though my Kenwood HU has a SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner, I now run Sirius/XM thru my iPhone app with wireless Carplay.
The sound is a 1000X better thru the app than using the satellite tuner source.

I mounted my Alpine knob on the console so it literally sits at my fingertips as I drive.
Right arm rests on the console, right hand usually rests on my TRD shift knob..
I never even have to look at it or look to reach for it, I just put my hand down on the console and adjust it..
