I'm looking to supercharge my 2019 SR5. It's stock so far with the exception of a S&B CAI.

I want to do it right, what modifications should I be doing before throwing the supercharger in there? Obviously bigger tires, exhaust, etc. what recommendations do you guys have?

Depends on your intended application. Bigger tires aren't a prerequisite for a blower. You don't really need anything besides the supercharger and possibly a tune depending the make you go with.

There are a few folks that have done a deep dive in the performance domain like @ViktorG and @dirtydeeds

Could always do a smaller pulley or if going the Harrop route do a stage 2 kit. Maybe install a snow performance methanol kit and tune for it.

I'd agree with @Saltyhero13 and depends on your application and also on what your budget is. Bigger tires, exhaust with the supercharger can have you close to 10k, depending on what you go with and if you install it have it professionally installed.

Proper tune, no out-of-the-box tune, get OV or HP Tuners on dyno, after that I'd do the list below. I placed them in the order I'd do them in from top to bottom and from left to right.

Fuel: high-flow pump , larger CC injectors, larger lines w/boost-referenced regulator(tune required)
Air: larger throttle body, larger intake (tune required)
Exhaust: Long-tube headers, larger exhaust (tune highly recommended)
SC: Smaller SC pulley, larger crank pulley (tune highly recommended)
Booster: Methanol or Nitrous (tune required)

You don’t really need anything other than the tune. It’s a lot of power. I changed the headers and put a smaller pulley on my SC 2010 and it didn’t really make any difference. If I did I it again I’d look in to a shift kit.

But youll end up with this mod:

I would have to say if you are putting bigger tires on, I would absolutely re-gear the diffs to 5.29's for any tire over 33". Ultimately all the power under the hood doesn't mean shit if you do not have a good overall ratio to the ground. A better shifting tune helps but doesn't solve the ratio change when lugging 100+ lbs at each corner.

Best supercharger results come from the ability to get into, and stay in the power band of the truck. Stock ratios will get you very pumped up and you'll love it. You can bolt on a SC and add 35's and it will still rip from 3500rpms and up but if you re-gear with said 35's you'll always be in the power band.
I was ready to re-gear, then I just put my stock wheels and tires on, and I'm so happy with the performance and quick spooling power that I have not put my aftermarket 34" wheels and tires back on, because it is that noticable., and it saved me $3500.
You will gain a tremendous amount by bolting on the SC. If you want more, you go down the rabbit hole of. "how much more?" And that can get really expensive. Ask @ViktorG what it costs to go above the bolt -on price of a SC.

Well said. Damn, I had 295/70/18's installed the same day as the supercharger. Now I wonder what it would feel like with the stock tires.

Thank you guys for the help! I'm leaning towards the Magnuson, do you guys have any first hand experience with that SC? What are some other SC's I should compare?

same here, SC and factory tire size all the way. I cannot imagine how much of a dog a stock tundra with 35” tires is.

Mine is a Magnuson and I'm only on the BD tune. (2017) I can dislike the tune's shifting when in tow mode (the dreaded hanging) but other than that, it has been a solid tune.
Putting on a SC is and always will be, the best mod you can make to your truck. Magnuson built the TRD blower and that was all I need to know when it came to buying one.

I've also read the 5000+ post OV tune thread over the last 18months waiting for it to stop being a 3 ring circus shit-show, but it never gave me confidence to purchase the tune.

I installed my afr gauge before I did the blower so I had a baseline of what stock afr was, besides that just get the blower on and send it.

I would suggest giving Keith Carty of Dirty Deeds Industries a call at 760-877-4234. He may be able to help you.

    Thanks, Shawna
